Boys or Girls? What age group? Which teams dominated? |
That was a combined 03/04 tryout at Spirit yesterday? |
Who were the Spirit coaches in attendance at the tryouts? |
They have enought talent in the 04 group to field two DA teams. Im assuming Spirit will get a big pickup in that age group once FCV rosters are made and kids turned away |
Any impressions on how the FCV tryout looked? What was the format? |
That's odd because in many of the divisions across the age group it was non-CCL teams in the Finals and taking home the medals: PWSI, SAC Premier, Achilles, Team America, VSA, MD RUSH...even if they were outnumbered by the CCL teams in attendance. There was not a clear dominance by anyone across the age groups---even amongst the Clubs with the most teams entered. Which--is great---shows variety and lets them get outside of their box once in awhile. |
I don't know about all the Groups but--in our U12 bracket--: LVMSC won top group, Richmond won 2nd group, SOCA won 3rd group, and Achilles won last bracket. You can see it was quite varied amongst the winners. Girls are this weekend. |

They scrimmaged. It's was a dog and pony in my opinion. The teams are made up. They should just send out notices so people can be at ease or move on. |
As I said before...in the 04 age group alone..FCV/Loudoun has to turn down around 15 current A team players. That's close to an entire team.
The kids that dont get an acceptance letter from FCV should tryout for Spirit...and then play FCV in the regular season...game would be close I bet...a lot of the kids that get accepted will be comparable to tje kids not getting accepted. |
Do you think FCV is only going to go with 18 players? |
20..my opinion...there is no true defined drop off in talent until after player 31 or so |
Looking for some opinions from more experienced parents. My son is currently in the BRYC travel program at U9. The program has been ok. Some positives and some negatives. They changed the training format this spring and it has been working out much better. Anyway with the move of BRYC out of the CCL and into the ECNL at the younger ages they will no longer be participating in a league for the younger years. Scrimmages and 2-3 tournaments for the year. My son enjoys the competitiveness of travel and enjoys the weekend games. Not planning in riding a college scholarship but looking for him to get quality training and compete at a higher level than Rec leagues. Curious to know what parents would consider doing if they prefer the league format? Move to another club in a league (CCL/NCSL) or stick it out with BRYC? Other clubs in our area are LMVSC, PWSI (crappy traffic), SYC and SCAA. Perhaps ODSL? |
I'd recommend checking out LMVSC. Their boys in the younger age groups seem to be Doing well from what I have seen at CCL games and tournaments. |
Also if those same young age groups continue to develop and remain with the club at the older age groups then it's possible that they could be strong across all age levels. Not currently familiar with older age groups but agree that the young age groups have put out some good teams that play an attractive brand of soccer. |
