As a taxpaying citizen of Fairfax County, I don't give a flying about FCPS high school football---what I do care is about the integrity of the school system and fair play, not just in football but in all aspects of the system. Hayfield and its cheating football and the horrowshow it has caused, plus cover-up by administration, is a dark stain on FCPS!

This wasn’t about integrity. This was more about privilege and entitlement.

No, it was the false entitlement of Coach Overton and all around him (who wrongfully believe that white privilege is involved) that broke the overriding more important integrity of the FCPS system---enabled in part by DEI gone amok!

The entitlement is feeling that a Black coach and Black kids aren’t allowed to play by the same rules as a white coach and white kids. The privilege is when high ranking FCPS members violate the Black coaches and players to appease white supremacists in the county that so badly want to stop the program from winning a championship.

Wait, what? So you're ok with a coach doing what he did just because he's black?!?!? If you know of others, report them.

There has been no proof that he violated any rules. All his players were eligible even after the VHSL got involved. They barred the team from the post season because the team had too many transfers. Transfers are allowed and when they investigated the transfers, they were found to be legit.

So when will the families sue the principal who pulled the team playing? The courts said hayfield could play and the court of public opinion has no weight. The kids could have played but the principal withdrew them. Why aren’t the families suing him personally?

You are so funny. I can not believe you. Go ahead. Sue. See where it gets you. Many of this have been hoping for this as discovery is going to be so amusing.

Overton is dropping receipts about other schools who are recruiting. I already knew Westfield recruits, but for them to make the allegations against Hayfield when they are doing the same thing doesn’t make sense.

Yikes, this just makes Overton look so much worse. It is a shame he lacks the basic intelligence to realize it.

Agreed...Overton was allowed to blatantly cheat for an entire regular season. Clearly he operated under a different set of rules.

n

Oh please. My kid plays football at WFHS, the kids on the team are not sketchy transfers, just regular neighborhood kids.

When Overton agrees to be interviewed and actually answers questions, let us know.

VHSL found 26 illegit transfers-did this "youtuber" discuss that?

What is WFHS? If you mean Westfield, then that’s a lie. I can’t speak for many of the schools, but I know for a fact that Westfield had kids who lived in Centreville’s zone and South Lakes’ zone playing football.

Then I know another kid, who plays varsity basketball there lives inside of John Champe’s boundaries and Champe is in a different county. The kid from Champe has a younger brother who is also at Westfields on the JV team. Not sure if they play football.

I know the brothers from Champe because my son is friends with them and was at Champe last year with the older one, but transferred to Carroll to play with a better program. We went the private route, but many families find a way to move their kid to another public school to be in a program that will help further develop their kids special interests.

Hayfield didn’t have any kids that weren’t eligible. There were only 14 transfers and one of them didn’t even play football. The jealousy and the hate is unwarranted. These are just kids trying to play a sport.

You transferred your kid to Carroll to play for a "better" program? Yikes.

There's been plenty of proof he violated rules, hence why the team was booted from the playoffs by the VHSL. That you need that explained to you speaks volumes.

Everything you just wrote appears to be unequivocally false based on the reporting I've seen.
Can you share where you are getting your facts from? MANY of the transfers were illegitimate

If they were illegitimate, why would they still allow the kids to compete?

VHSL didn't.

Maybe stay in your lane.

Yet another Hayfield booster who peaked in high school and actually thinks VA public school championships matter. How sad.

And look at you, hating on high school teens chasing dreams....

Your reading comprehension skills are trash. I am sorry that those charged with teaching you failed you so badly.

Overton is coaching the Virginia team in the St James senior bowl in Springfield VA. That’s more his speed since he can recruit players for his team.

What a laughably stupid comment. It was the other FCPS coaches who met with Reid and threatened to forfeit their first round playoff games after they showed her the text messages from Monty Fritts that forced her hand, (after the FCPS court let them play) Then the Fairfax Times dropped those messages a few days later. Dr. Thompson knew the jig was up, and he withdrew Hayfield from the playoffs. The VHSL did its job, and enforced its rules.

They were scared to play. A good coach will prepare their team as best as possible. Then hold their heads high and compete.

Those messages were sent before Overton even took the job. He nor anyone else currently involved with Hayfields was in on those texts.
