No human being who can walk and breathe at the same time would think this resolves the issues at hand. Reid cannot possibly be this stupid.

No but she’s sure hoping her constituents are. Classic run out the clock strategy with “investigations” that never end. And with results that are never announced or are papered over.

The boundary changes will be the “make-or-break” issue for her. It’s going to get dicey. Stay tuned.

I haven't met any families who does want that, but obviously I have not spoken to every family. I'm just saying that to say some of us in the Hayfield community are not pushing for his departure.

You approve of his behavior? Yikes.

I'm not the OP.
Watching this from the side with a kid in a different sport at Hayfield. This seems like a great example of internet outrage vs real life. No many people actually care if Overton stays or goes. No I don't agree with bringing in 15+ players (that will earn a 2 year suspension every time) at one time but I'm not blind enough to not know that most top schools actively recruit. Some recruit in the 6, 7th 8th grade. Some recruit 10th graders transfer portal style. Before anyone can clean up football they need to start with basketball.

It was 26 players according to VHSL.

Ridiculous post above. No one has pulled what Overton did. The extent of the cheating and the school admin involvement in what is clearly corruption warrants much more attention.

I can not believe families aren't demanding he be removed as the head of security right now. It is outrageous and completely unacceptable that trained security staff were removed so that he, with no training, could take over and give jobs to his unqualified friends. Someone explain to me how this is allowed to continue.

I don't begrudge those who are upset, but it isn't everyone. Most Hayfield families I know are happy. I don't know any involved with football though, but do know some marching band parents.

“Pretty much ignored the whole thing”

That says it all.

Exactly. That this parent is proud of the fact that they are sticking their head in the sand when well like high performing school staff were removed from their jobs and that staff were threatened if they said anything says all we need to know about that poster.

PP you really don't care that admin removed qualified security staff to give an uneducated untrained person the job who brought in their friends to fill the related positions? Speaks volumes about you.

I'll be quoting from the Fairfax Times article.

The poster doesn't care that

"The Fairfax County Times has documented that FCPS administrators ignored 35 warnings from 19 whistleblowers over nine months."

"Reid said that the team would make sure staff didn’t cross “red lines,” but parents noted that those same staff members were warned repeatedly about “red lines” crossed."

"FCPS staff members and coaches report a culture of fear, intimidation, and retaliation for staff members, coaches, and administrators who call out the wrongdoing. "

"... one of the first whistleblowers in this case was former Hayfield Director of Student Services Erin Crowley, a Hayfield graduate whose professional goal was to serve students at her alma mater. When she expressed concerns about the sudden influx of transfers to school administrators this past spring, FCPS Assistant Superintendent Michelle Boyd and Thompson transferred Crowley to Annandale High School in an involuntary job swap with Annandale’s director of student services, Erik Healey. "

There is so much more to this. The superintendent needs to go.

If you're a parent of students at Hayfield and you don't care about this, there is something wrong with you.

+1. They'll start caring when their child's schedule shows vacancies in core academic classes at the beginning of next school year. Sorry your kid's Honors Geometry or AP Chem class is staffed by a revolving door of warm bodies. Maybe Thompson can convince Apostle Karen to fill in!

Reid is garbage and she needs to step down or be fired. She is an embarrassment to FCPS.

It's football folks. Relax. Take a shower and breathe.

It's so much bigger than football. It's not the scandal itself, but the attempt to cover up the scandal by the FCPS.

Shove your condescension where the sun don't shine.

This isn't just about football. It's corruption with people's careers being upended, school staff being threatened, school system leadership lying, and cheating taking place all in the name of winning a state football championship to make fcps look good. It's pathetic and corrupt. People need to be fired.

I hope Erin sues the pants off them.

That you think this is a football issue and not something far larger speaks volumes. Don't procreate.

Same here. I also wondered if any of these whistleblowers reached out to their union reps when all this was happening.
