Do you really believe that the school board and Dr. Reid will rezone Shannon Station to anywhere in 2027, after rezoning them to CF in 2026? That neighborhood just got the golden ticket. They are the one neighborhood of all of the WSHS neighborhoods that should have been rezoned no matter what to White Oaks and Lake Braddock. Reid just made them untouchable for the next 5 years. |
The maps haven’t been voted on yet, anything could still happen. |
McDaniel did not say rezone WSHS next year. He said if WSHS continues to be overcrowded in 5 years it has to be looked at. |
Is it Dr. Reid who is saying WSHS will get looked at for rezoning in 2027? Rolling Valley SPA 8922 was mentioned. If they are moved into WSHS from Lewis, then a different neighborhood will need to move out. |
No, he said he will file an amendment asking Reid to put WSHS on the watch list of areas that will get reviewed starting in Jan 2027. |
Helping out his buddy Sandy was the point, Didn’t he take money from his company too? THis way the amendment goes on HIS record, not Sandy and the woman who spoke out at the school board meeting giving it to Sandy Anderson for not listening to her constituents has her argument nullified. After all, SANDY didn’t put the amendment out there, MCDANIEL did. So, Sandy IS not responsible!! |
He’s also unlikely to get endorsed by the Dem Party for that seat again given the embezzlement case still winding its way through the court. Problem for Sandy is that she will be up for re-election while her constituents have to fight these battles all over again. |
Boundary changes wasn’t on the radar when they ran last time. I don’t recall any of them mentioning it. I can’t see many of these people getting reelected. |
Sandy absolutely told Kyle McDaniel to take a hit for her on this. She is getting too much pressure from her West Springfield constituents, so she told McDaniel to speak about targeting WSHS for review again next year. That way the blood is off her hands McDaniel repeatedly shared his support for West Springfield neighborhoods to stay, over and over again. This is literally the first time he had EVER said any about West Springfield in this 18 month process. I don't think he likes constituent pressure, so if I lived on WS I'd be mobilizing to call/email his office asap. I guess the good news is that Sandy is feeling on the ropes. There's a lot of poor board members, but she is by far the worst for the people she is supposed to represent. |
| Apparently the greenway downs community does not know the changes were pulled because it created an island of an apt building community and a new island/split feeder for Shrevewood. Scenario 4 worked for them but not for all. Maybe in future there is another option. |
They knew that. They just chose to ignore it because they wanted to take over Graham Road, no matter the impact on other neighborhoods and schools. Scenario 4 fixed one problem in that area by creating two new ones. |
| Sandy loves to pass Kyle notes during meetings He is 100% her most loyal minion. Clearly he knows he is on the way out so he might as well do whatever she wants to keep her in his pocket for whatever comes next. Other schools have used modulars to keep "numbers low" The two modular at WS are used for specific AP classes. Add 2 more and we will be well below the freak out percetage they keep throwing at us. And before people chime in saying how much modulars stink. I am a teacher who has taught in one for 5 year, they are fine. In fact, I like the peace and quiet away from inside! They are not the tin can trailors we had growing up. |
No, he didn’t. Why are you making things up? |
Direct quote from his comments yesterday at the work session: "The most overcrowded high school in the entire county right now is West Springfield. We're not changing West Springfield now. But what I'm hoping to do is that we put it on a review list. So going forward, we take a look at data assumptions, we take a look at program placement, take a look at transfers. Obviously there's going to be some type of an impact once AAP centers are rolled out countywide." Perhaps you can tell us what nuance we're missing here. |
Why are you selectively editing out the part where he repeatedly said for the next 5 year review cycle, and only if the enrollment data assumptions do show actual overcrowding following a review of programs and transfer policies? It’s like you think people are too stupid to go to YouTube and look for themselves. In fact, here’s the video. People show watch for themselves and decide.
