Yes, why did they want to change it SO MUCH before anything definitive came out.

Seriously? Because the story was farcical to anybody with half a brain....I guess that doesn’t include imbeciles like you.

Yes. The obvious problems with the story were obvious from the beginning. But some people just wanted so badly to believe it

And the press reported it as the gospel truth without once pointing out the inconsistencies in the story. It’s a great case study of everything that is wrong with the corrupt media.

Yes. I definitely saw headlines and tweets from the MSM that reported on the attack as if it were fact. Many major news sources didn’t bother to preface “attack” with “alleged.” And then there were all the op eds about how the attack shows how much Trump voters hate black and gay people.

Given how infrequently there are false accusations, we should err on the side of the victim until the police can investigate.

While the story was generally feasible (MAGA trash are homophobic racists), I don’t want to rush to any judgments until the police made a statement. Because I clearly don’t have all of the same facts as they do.

So you’re just another idiot lemming incapable of rational thought........great.

Lemming of what? I’m not moving at all until I hear the results of the investigation.

You’re an imbecile not capable of free thought.

I am. I just wait for the facts to come out.

I was in MAGA country yesterday at Pentagon Mall. I swear, I’ve never felt more out of place in the sea of red hoodies and hats emblazened with that noxious phrase.

Do all of the tourist buses go there?

Thank god you made it out safely. The make-believe attacks from MAGA folks are out of control these days!

Actually I noticed a ton of news stories that DID say “alleged” and they got pelted for being wishy washy on whether there had actually been an attack.

Hate crimes are underreported and on the rise.

And most are committed by white men:

Regardless of these horrifying stats, no one has the right to stage an attack to bring these instances to light.

Posters' obsession with the title of the thread is amazing. You would think the fate of the world hangs on the wording of the subject line of this thread. The last word from the Chicago police of which I am aware was that the leaks to the media were wrong and that the incident was not being considered a hoax. I know that there have been subsequent leaks, but I think it is wise to wait until there is something official. Once there is an official statement ruling out the initial account, I'll update the title.

It’s only brought up to show how strong your bias is. If it was a white guy blaming a Muslim, you would have changed the title or deleted the thread on day 2.

Agree. But it's certainly feasible that some white MAGA-types committed a hate crime based on race.

They only made it out safely because they weren't able to contrive and stage a fake attack with the help of two friends.

Had they, I'm sure we'd be hearing about yet another MAGA-attack, this one in Arlington.

Don't worry, PPP will keep trying though.

Anonymous wrote:This story reminds me of the wave of bomb threats across the US and other countries against Jewish sites back in 2016. It all turned out to be hoaxes by an Israeli trying to stir up fear of anti-semitism. It was a giant hoax and he had made about 2000 calls.

The insidious part is even after those were proven to be hoaxes, some people (ok, liberals, rather) were STILL citing those "attacks" as evidence of a huge wave of antisemitic violence in this country that was being committed by what must surely be vast swarms of Jew-haters. They either didn't know about the truth behind it (highly unlikely in today's internet age) or were simply using it anyway, because it fit their template, and hoping people didn't know the reality.

Based on how much coverage the attacks got compared to how little coverage the story received when the truth came out, it's clear the media itself was complicit in helping keep the public uninformed.

But there are posters here on DCUM who still cite those incidents as proof of widespread antisemitic activities here... and those posters certainly know better.

They just assume you don't.

of course

But somehow we are failing to recognize that hate crimes predated MAGA.

Slavery - hate crimes
Jim Crow - hate crimes

not to mention the genocide that goes on around the world

This country is young and dumb. The world, however, is old and dumb b/c no one is learning from the horrific past events. We just seem to enjoy being miserable in the present - eating up every news source that fits our agenda.

Even why you TRY to sound magnanimous and attempt contrition, your bigotry still comes through, lolz

Many of those same people will soon be rushing to defend Smollet soon.

The template will be "just because it didn't happen THIS time, doesn't mean it isn't happening 10,000 other times, every single day!"

They'll then praise Smollet for "using his platform to make us aware of this".

Just watch.
