Exactly. What a bunch of BS. They were complaining when the FARMS rate was 29% and their school is in a low income neighborhood!!! Now we have RP in a upper middle class neighborhood getting a bunch of poor neighborhoods being busses to it and double the farms rate past 40%.

Did anyone from RP said that they don't want to see 7% FARMs rate in RP or all of you were happy to not have any FARMs kids from other side of 270?

All I saw that RP was trying to argue to not take any kids from other side of 270. If RP had agreed to take some FARMs kids from RP2 then situation would have been much better.

Also, CG3 needs to stop talking about this neighborhood crap to be honest. New school is coming, Let's move whoever we need to move.

But RP2 is close to the new school?! There was never an option to split up RP2 into a smaller zone - how could RP take "some FARMS kids" from RP2? Either all of RP2 goes to the new school or it stays at RP. Also, there's lots of non-FARMS families in RP2 FYI. Right now, many families in the Fireside Apartments can't get to meetings and events at RP due to lack of cars and lack of public transportation options near Ritchie Park. - a few neighbors with cars drive many other families when it is an important situation to get to the school. if those families are at the new school, the parents and kids can access the school and services much more easily.

New schools normally have the best staff and the best facilities. I don’t understand the hate for the new school.

Says a parent from a school with the lowest FARMS now and next year.

Bus any student over to CG if there is capacity, unlike the Hungerford Civic Association, we welcome Twinbrook students/ FARMs students or any student whose parents are not opposed to the extended commute. Keep in mind all of the RM cluster students will go to the same middle school and high school.

Personally, I would be happy to go to the new school, or Beall which is just as close for parts of the section. And RP is ok too. But how awesome that the Super gives us a special shout out as a chess piece in his written summary! We’ve been a gerrymandered section for years, and it hasn’t really been a problem. Even though neighbors on all sides have always gone to another school. RP2 could also probably be divided, and even divided, I bet the FARMs numbers would decent in each segment. There are so many ways to do this. Obviously too many. I don’t know where I am going here. Just would have preferred to go to the new school and feel frustrated that we can’t seem to come to a consensus.

You need to sign up to testify and write to the Board. Tell the Board that you are close to the new school and want to go to the new school. Your voice is important, too.

Out of all the options I've seen, I thought the Hungerford proposal would have made a lot of sense, not sure why it wasn't used for this proposal, the only change that

Why don't you bus your kids past CG and Beall, to RM5 and Twinbrook like the other schools now have to. Then we will talk.

The only one hating on the new school was New Mark and Hungerford. I would be happy to go there.

B5 and B6 both want to go to Beall and they opposed it saying that boy scout and girls scout are together. They used CG3 argument here.

B5, B6 and CG3 wants to remain at old school at any cost even if it means keeping older school over capacity.

It wasn't a strong opposition though, was it? The only arguments to it we're people who wants to stay in the same school like the ones tou said. But capacity and SES wise, this option would actually work, might need soime tweaks for RP's very low FARMS but that was about it.

Yes, the Hungerford proposal makes the most sense of all the crazy options that are on the table at this point. It's not perfect, but no option is, and it's much closer to perfect than many of the others. If more people can get behind this option, it will save a lot of children from being bussed all over the cluster...

It was very vocal. Argument has no merit, but voices were loud. If new school is here then students do need to move. Everyone else moving is fine , but not us is not a good way to think .

I do agree that proposal is a good one and it should be considered with some tweaks. Out of 6 presented options, 3rd option in today release does a good job of distributing FARMs, but it's not perfect as well. Anyway, no perfect solution is possible, but it's a much better than some other crazy options.

How about 3rd option presented today? It doesn't change current boundary by much. It's not busing kids all over. It's balancing FARMs. It's leaving Twinbrook for title 1. It's balancing capacity.

Only downside will be extra few minutes of bus rides for RP5 kids. Still an option with most benefits and one negative.

Also that one RP neighborhood that will drive by the new school on their way to Ritchie Park...
