Superintendent's Recommendation for Richard Montgomery ES #5 Boundaries

The issue is that HH residents are all over Facebook declaring themselves winners / victors / champions. They are all virtually high-fiving each other over keeping RP2 and by extension RP6 out -- and we as parents see that stuff even as we dry our kids tears that they are losing their friends next year.

--RP6 resident

Perhaps you and your children should celebrate the fact that you get a brand new school, with a brand new principal and the ability to make brand new friends while keeping the old friend this having more friends in middle school. HH didn’t make this decision, the Board did. I live in Horizon Hill, and I told my children whatever decision the board makes we will be happy with and we will make the best out of whatever situation comes our way.

no, I'm not all that interested because 1. my kids will be in MS by then 2. there is no point in outting anyone and making people from uncomfortable.

I don't challenge anyone who says walkability is #1 because to them, it is #1. Who am I to tell them their opinions don't matter? Just as I wouldn't want someone to tell me my opinion doesn't matter.

Vote is over. People provided their input, and BOE has decided. Done deal. Get over your anger or it's going to be a long 5 years for you.
Well, that's one person who deserves to be made uncomfortable. S/he is most likely part of the PTA leadership. Was s/he expressing the position of one person or the position of the PTA leadership? These are all questions that the RPES community has to deal with.

Again, it's pointless now. I highly doubt the person was representing the entire PTA Board. Why? Because not everyone on that board is wealthy, nor are they all from FG. There is at least one person who is moving to the new school.

There's no need to make the atmosphere of the PTA or the school uncomfortable. Children and parents there will have to deal with each other for years to come. Seriously, just move on. If you are going to the new school, then spend your energy on making that school great. Serve on the PTA board so that you can control what the PTA publishes. You don't need to care about RP anymore. Let go of your bitterness.

Which petition? The one by A was started by WG.

I don't think there was one for B, was there? It did not make it to me.

I only saw against C petition
For A petition.

Which one are you talking about?

Support option A or B. Reject C,D and E

No one from WG, B5 or B6 will support B. All 3 were only for A and no way they wanted B at any cost.

People have been saying for a long time that the purpose of the new school is to relieve the other schools. They weren't going to leave CG at full capacity no matter how little growth they people were claiming the school would get going forward. If WG wanted to stay with CG so badly, they should have created their own map that reassigned ANOTHER CG zone to Beall rather than them. Other than that, they were going. How many times was it said for weeks, the BOE will not allow CG to be at capacity and 170+ empty seats in the new school? Now it's a done deal.

you do know that option A was only 1 vote from passing right?

And Option A was still short by 20%.

Option A was voted on first and got 4 votes. Option E was voted on second and got 2 votes. Option B was voted on third and got 5 votes. I'm going to go out on a limb and say, they all knew how this would turn out. They wanted to give the student member a chance to voice his opinion and they wanted to give the community a vote for A since so many people wanted it. I'm thinking they knew that A would fail. They wanted B because of the enrollment numbers. What I'm getting at is this: If A was going to get 5 votes, they would have had E voted on first then A.

so you are saying that everybody knew how the others were going to vote before the meeting? i guess that would make sense.

I’m not saying for sure, it just seemed that way to me. Didn’t one of them mention they had numerous phone conversations with one another?

Yes, someone mentioned phone calls over the Thanksgiving break. I heard they would be meeting during Thanksgiving break, too. Don't know if they did. Or if it was a full board or just a few members.

This meeting officially began at 5 PM on Monday, with a closed session. So it wasn't like they were seeing each other at 6 PM for the first time on Monday, either.

I'm the RP2 parent again. You're so far off and I'm not sure why you care about RP so much, but to be clear RPES community isn't dealing with anything. RP2 gets to go to a new neighborhood school and most everyone else is unaffected, so basically everyone is okay with this. There is no drama at RP. We always assumed we were going anyway and happy to get a neighborhood school. My guess is you are projecting whatever issues are going on at your school onto RP. Again, worry about yourself.

I don't even know what the "I'm the RP2 parent again." person is talking about. But I like the fact that when you reply, you use a tiny font and unbalanced quotes so it's easy to recognize you. How many more pages can this thread go???

Let's try for 200. I'm sure this will get resurrected again when the new school opens. I can't wait for Crown HS zoning. The thread on that one will be just as fun. /s

Downtown Crown is pretty far from most of the RM cluster. Woot on is closer.

That can't be true. There is one HH parent over here claiming that s/he wanted Alternative E and wrote that to the board. You cannot paint all HH parents with one brush.

Do you really believe this or the person is even from RP6? There is no virtual high five going on. Just checked the PTA Facebook page. None.

Parts of Gaithersburg will move to Crown (mostly FARMS)
The entire King Farm will finally go to Gaithersburg together
Fallsgrove will move to Crown
Dufief will get updated/expanded and all parts originally Wootton (not in Kentlands/Lakeland’s) will move on to Crown.
