No new elementary or middle schools are going to be built with matriculation to it. Guessing that FG would be thrilled to go to the new school. Highly doubt that King Farm wants to continue feeding into Gaithersburg HS.

They aren’t going to let only high income families in that school and they need to severely decrease Gaithersburg’s FARMS which is now close to 50%. I agree that the entire neighborhood will end up in Gaithersburg. Since half already does, it is a no brainer. They are actually closer to Gaithersburg than Crown anyway.

I personally think this is why King Farm was so against A. Much easier to move them when CG is over capacity than under.

Well, than I know a lot of families that will be leaving King Farm. They don't want to go to Gaithersburg.

could be worse. could be going to watkins mill

It won't be the same high school at that point. It could have a FARMS rate similar to RM. Remember RMs FARMS rate will increase if they lose KF.

+1. KF residents - I *don't* think I'll be affected by this since I assume it will be built after my kids have graduated, but I wouldn't leave the neighborhood if KF end up at Gaithersburg. It would be a totally different school at that point - I don't expect the FARMS rate to remain at what it is.

many of the people that buy houses in the RM cluster part of King farm specifically bought their house there to avoid Gaithersburg high school. you can bet that if KF gets zoned to gaithersburg high, people will be moving out in droves regardless of what the projected improved farms is.

To avoid the GH that existed when they bought..after the population changes you can not predict.

the negative stigma associated with GH will not go away immediately just because they put some richer neighborhoods in the school

GH already has some kids from well-off families in Laytonsville.

Check out the latest thread about the Gaithersburg HS story that NBC did last night. It's no wonder people DO NOT want their kids at Gaithersburg and will absolutely move to avoid it. After you see the video and hear what is going on you will understand. By the way, if you are okay with your kids being in that "diverse" environment, than have at it.
