MCPS delayed Thursday?

It's wild to me they closed administrative offices for 3 days. They used to close them only rarely and would reopen them faster than the schools. Unfortunately that leaves a lot of parents who are paying for child care in the lurch since when offices are closed childcare programs can't operate in schools, and many private providers follow the MCPS offices. It feels like since the pandemic there is even more antipathy towards working parents.

Yep noticed that tendency to keep offices closed when schools are. Taylor does have several kids maybe he needs to be home to take care of them when district is closed, dunno

DP. And when they used to have schools open on a two hour delay, they would often have offices open on time. They made right call not to make office personnel come in at regular time today though - it was icy and deicing took a while not to mention the wind and cold and black ice in various places.

Bundle up and go to school already.

Why are you so rude?

PP you replied to. Because the confirmation was sent at 5am. Confirmed from yesterday's decision. Real adults know this is final. Only a middle schooler would whine on the forum past this point. Also, the reason you gave is RIDICULOUS. Wind whistles through my house too. This is not a big deal. You deserve being insulted if you're this stupid!

It's not dangerously windy.

These excuses continue to get more and more ridiculous.

DP. It was dangerously cold with the windchill.

No. Not all. This is why some teachers have space heaters.

I'm wondering if it's trying to cut costs. When admin aren't in the building, that's less electricity, water, paper, ink, etc. being used. Sounds dumb and marginal but when it's May and they're saying there's no money for copy paper or glue sticks or cardstock until July 1, those margins make something of a difference and maybe some penny-pincher has identified this as a potential savings. They seem to also start auditing mileage reimbursement with a fine-toothed comb in the second half of the fiscal year, too.

The delayed message stated " Before, after-school, and childcare programs may operate as scheduled."

Put on some warm layers and a coat, hat, gloves.

Just back from a long walk with the dog and younger kids. It is nice out in the sun. Just wear a coat and hat.

Bar-T was open at 7 am. I didn't drop my kid off that early, but when I got there at 9 am, there were a lot of kids there.
