Citations?

just google it or read the threads here... people are even talking about Ivanka for goddsake

Vance scares the HELL out of Wall Street.

Why? I thought that PayPal guy and other fin tech guys were his backers?

Yeah, Wall Street isn't a small corner of the Silicon Valley fintech world.

Also, yes, Thiel sponsored him into his Senate seat, but has since turned on him and said it's a mistake. The other day when asked about the possibility of Vance becoming veep, Thiel literally had a panic attack on stage.

None of the groups will vote for Harris but they will be less enthusiastic about bothering to vote.

Trump may be in a no win situation where picking Vance hurt him but dropping him hurts him just as much.

Incels don’t vote. GOP base actually loves Carson. GOP media loves Haley. Nobody loves Vance.

Well, Trump loves Vance. So, here we are. Trump is also allergic to doing the smart thing. So fingers crossed here he stays. Starting 8/7 with Ohio, states will be printing ballots. At which point even if they drop him, everyone is reminded about it when they vote.

Come JD. Hang in there two more weeks. I believe.

Trump vetted Vance. End of story.

His sons, particularly Don Jr. you may want to Google it. They’ve been a few articles about it. Apparently, Trump wanted Doug Burghum but the sons pushed for Vance.

Thus proving Moron is genetic.

You're right, and he hates reversing a decision, no matter how wise it is. He'd rather double down—or "punch back" as he calls it. I'm pretty sure Vance will stay, but I predict by the end of the election, they will be campaigning separately and Trump will be openly disparaging Vance on the stump. And when they lose, I predict there will be some MAGA-led violence against Vance—he'll probably need Secret Service protection for years.

If Trump was smart, he'd drop Vance and pick up Hailey, but he'll never do it. She's the only one who could save him. If he moves, it will be Carson who will not be subject to couch-effing rumors, but will be deadweight. I think his favorability is probably slightly positive. I don't think he's a bad man. But he has the charisma of Vance's couch and no rizz with african american men or white women.

Please no, to answer your thread question.

I assumed Trump would choose Burgum because who the hell is that? Trump likes to be the star, as we all heard.

+1. Another reason Trump hates Vance. Harris is already sucking all of the oxygen out the the race. When someone does talk about his campaign, it’s to dunk on Vance. No one is paying attention to Trump at all. Vance is new. Harris is new. Trump’s stuck with the same shtick he’s been pushing for almost a decade. Its boring.

I mean, with his frail health, it's natural that so much attention would be on his VEEP and he should realize that. But, yes, all the attention is just dunking and mockery. I think he could live with it if it was at least positive.

Also, few respectable Republicans (maybe none) would want to be associated with Trump ticket now that Harris has momentum. It was a different thing when Biden was looking lackluster and Trump got a short-lived sympathy boost after the kid shooter shot him. It doesn't help that the kid was a loner, white male who came from a republican family. He's not the bogeyman POC they were hoping for.

The other thing to remember about Vance is that MAGA is all good with Vance. I'm a little surprised the Trump campaign has been caught so flat-footed, but Trump does have to keep the base happy. This election will still be close and neither side can really afford to lose voters.

True. Allegedly some of his loyal voters have moved to Harris because of Vance those same people would move right back if Haley or Carson took his place

Haley is a flip flopper and would eagerly join Trump's ticket. Carson is 73 yoa and Trump is 78 yoa. People don't believe in retirement anymore and enjoying your golden years with as little stress as possible. Biden was fine when he took office in 2021. The stress and caring of the world aged that man faster than he would have aged had he not been president.

But Wall Street—the money that Trump desperately needs, especially as his campaign falters—loathes Vance. Trump isn't known for doing the clever thing, so I expect him to keep Vance... but if he does, it's because he's stubborn and hates reversing himself. And if he doesn't keep Vance, it won't be because he thinks about the MAGA base, it's because he wants Wall Street's money. He's got a radar for the base's interests, but he also takes them for granted. If there's a move, it will be SUCH a boon for RFK who would be clever to take Vance.

I believe Hailey would, but Trump would not take her. He has a deep deep fury towards her for being disloyal. He will treat her like Mitt Romney... keep her around, dangle prizes, make her humiliate herself and never give her shit. Unlike Romney or Christie, she won't eventually back off.

Unforced error by Vance here. This story was very much a flash in the pan/didn't get a lot of traction. Now he's drawn attention to it.

And it's fascinating how these dudes want to be in women's vaginas but their own female relatives are supposed to be off-limits.
