I don't know about high school soccer in Frederick, but many of the starters on our local high school come from ECNL teams, and students attend the games. A lot during the playoffs. Nobody is arguing that quality of HS soccer is as high as that played by DA or ECNL teams, and HS soccer is not the peak accomplishment for girls at DA or ECNL teams. But don't pretend that is has no value. |
What is telling is that you have to defend HS Soccer in order to promote ECNL. If your player is only interested in playing a season or two, junior and senior years due to actual impact and role, then where is the value in paying ECNL money for a 6 month league? If your value of HS soccer is so high you certainly don't need ECNL to get onto Varsity. You are paying a lot of money to essentially have your HS soccer coach prepare your DD for two spring college showcases. |
No you misunderstood. What I mean is that HS soccer does not display all of the BEST players in the area that it could. Not even close. The coaching does not promote the quality of play that would be possible if the best players actually played on the teams. The coaches are often poor and the players are average. HS soccer is not the same at representing the top talent as Football, Basketball, Baseball, track, Lacrosse and other HS sports offer. |
100 percent this. |
My kid does play HS sports, just not soccer. Why waste the time playing something at a lower level that kid already plays? If you have the time available, play something different. Play LAX or run track instead. Why waste time on a redundant activity of lower quality than is previously experienced? If your DD is so awesome at soccer stop punching down and challenge her in another sport. DA has no rules against playing HS sports in general, just not soccer. |
True of every club but spirit. Just look at their results. |
So your DD plays DA soccer and also plays other sports in HS? But you are anti-HS soccer? Sure thing. Amazing she has so much time on her hands... |
You are starting to sound like the FCV social media guy. |
| What grade does HS start in Frederick? 5th grade? |
WTF are you paying money for? The national team? You are really starting to sound like a club representative. |
Spirit has fine results in some age groups and they show development facing some very strong clubs. It's true of all the options. |

Defections there Defections everywhere |
Why does it matter if someone doesn't think HS soccer is worth playing, with the poorer quality of play, potential injuries, etc. Keep your DD in HS, and let those who think it's not beneficial stay out. No skin off anyones back. Believe it or not, some kids actually would rather NOT play HS. |
Fixed it for ya
This board is full of nitwits. |
