Bizarre game with the SR coach getting a yellow card at end of game. Set the tone for overtime.

Terrible that games can be decided by an 8 meter in sudden death OT.

That horrible goalie play bailed her out in the moment.

By what time? You can’t expect goalies to save 8 meters.

BTW SR got home cooking, that tying goal was clearly after buzzer with no time left.

Except when your team is on the winning end of it…

Nope. I would still think it sucks to win that way. It’s as bad as penalty kicks deciding soccer matches. Win it on the field.

Sure you can. My goalie loves facing 8m.

Was the shot released after the buzzer or did it go in after the buzzer? 2 different things. The former is no goal but the later is a goal.

1. SSSAS. They start a quality college commit at every position and sub with more commits. If they don't get it done this year, it will not be talent based, but some other issues with the program.

2. Stone Ridge. SR gets the nod for number two because the supporting cast around their top player is a bit more established than Visi's. Could see these teams trading off late season, however.

3. Visi. They will be better than people think. Star power, talented young players.

4. Potomac. Held their own in the initial games, despite missing their senior Duke commit (allegedly). Not going away, just not as strong as Visi on paper so far.

These rankings are spot on in the ISL. I think Visi and Potomac will likely battle it out for 3rd. Potoma whil graduating a loaded roster last spring, still has some younger talent in the ranks, but depth is rather thin.

I'm excited to see how Visi does with a first-year coach at the helm. Visi has some promising pieces in the younger grades and should be more competitive in the years ahead.

Yes. Over 75% so far this season. D3 commit.

I don’t want to discredit your kid’s skills, but at 75% save percentage on 8m free possessions, sounds like the shooters are not very good. Otherwise, with that high of a stat, she would be getting a full ride everywhere she pleases.

There are ways a goalie can increase their odds on the 8m, which she works on regularly with her goalie coach, which accounts for a good bit of the success. Its early season, so limited sample size. Her school is not at the highest level of competition and she is very strong against girls who take one step and wail it. If I had to guess, between club and school since freshman year, she's somewhere around 55 to 60% against the 8m.

She isn’t facing Reese, Rassas, Fossati, or other elite shooters who hit any corner with velocity. And if a girl is remotely skilled, she will charge in and find the opening. Sorry to pour cold water on your daughter but the best of the best goalies don’t come close to 50% on 8 meters.

The girl who scored from St Mary’s is top notch and 6’ tall. I’d imagine she scores on 80% of 8 meters against the best goalies in the country. And they all are coached by the best goalie coaches in the country.

100%. If my kid were playing the top of the IAAM or ISL, she'd be nowhere near 50% on 8m. But, she's not playing even close to that level. When she gets to college, she still probably won't see shooters like Reese or Rassas, but it will be a big bump in quality and doubtful she'll keep the same save rate on 8m shots. Hoping that this will be balanced by better defense increasing her save percentage on other shots.

How did GC do the other day against NDP? Thought someone on here said it was GC’s first real game.
