I disagree. In 2022, 102 GDS students posted their college destinations. Among GDS seniors, 16 out of 102 (15.6%) were heading to Ivies. In 2022, 8 out of the 62 (12.9%) SFS students who posted went to Ivies. GDS and SFS have around the same number of graduates each year. 15.6% and 12.9% are pretty close—much closer than the difference in 2023. This year, 8 out of 83 (9.6%) GDS students are heading to Ivies so far. In contrast, 13 out of 66 (19.6%) SFS who posted will attend Ivies in the fall. |
That is a HUGE difference. Also, SFS sending 20% of its grads to Ivy League schools is objectively impressive. |
Just want to add that GDS usually has a larger graduating class than Sidwell. It’s typically about 145-150 GDS students, compared to ~125 graduating Sidwell students. |

Unclench, SFS parents!
#Embarrassing |
Uh that’s not the entire class so the percentages are meaningless. Much like this entire debate. |
I’m not a SFS parent. My children attend a private that isn’t Sidwell nor GDS. Someone posted the 2022 links above, so I decided to crunch the numbers. I prefer facts, not opinions (or “feelings”). |
GDS typically has 125-130 in the graduating class. The classes are only bigger right now due to the current overenrollment issues that started around the pandemic |
Everyone knows, or should know, that the entire class doesn’t post. However, about half the class for both SFS and GDS posted in 2022 and 2023. |
Don’t tell me tell the person impressed by SFS sending 20% of its grads to Ivy League schools based on half the class listing. |
Even worse. Not redeeming yourself here |
And? Athletics are not an admit in a vacuum. The applicant has athletics as a hook AND the academics. |
There are a lot of Ivys etc from the SFS class of 22 who didn't post on Instagram because....they didn't want strange adults doing what you just did. You all are strange. |
And you strangely felt the need to let people believe there are even better secret results. You are all the same in this embarrassment. |
Lol at the thought that I’m seeking redemption (or approval) on this anonymous chat—from you or anyone else. |
Over half of 2023 Sidwell grads have posted this year. I’d say that the 20% of those heading to Ivies, who have posted this far, are a good representation of the entire class. Further, if there are zero additional Sidwell students attending Ivies this fall (which isn’t the case), the students who already posted represent 10% of the entire class. That’s still pretty good. |
