I am a boomer and know nothing about her music. OP-ED you sound like a desperate, jealous, angry troll. Swift's success and appeal are undeniable. Hopefully, you have spared the world from bringing any little ugly trolls into existence. |
Are you living under a rock? Even my 90 mother knows Taylor Swift |
I’m a hater, but I can only speak for myself. If she were just singing and doing her concerts, I wouldn’t be bothered. It’s not my thing, but neither is the entire genre of rap music. My problem is her constant self-promotion. Swift is in all the tabloids because her PR people pay for her to be in them. I don’t care where she went to dinner or with whom. While I cannot think of a White male like this off the top of my head, Kanye West comes to mind as a similar type. And I hate him, too. I agree that my opinion is irrelevant, but I have the right to voice it, especially on a thread about how annoying she is. |
Wow! People shouldn’t have children because they don’t like a singer? You’re nuts! Also, Taylor has a decentfigure, but her face is average at best. It’s ugly and plain women and gawky teenagers who like her because she’s not too pretty for them to feel jealous. I’ll bet the OP is more objectively attractive than Taylor…. |
People who are ugly and evil, gossipy people should not have spawn. |
You can be annoyed at TS being in all the tabloids but the idea that her team pays the tabloids is just ridiculous |
There is nothing ugly, evil or gossipy about saying that you don’t think a professional musician, a public figure, is up to scratch. This isn’t a 10 year old child singing in her school pageant. This is a grown woman in her 30s who puts herself on display for money. What she does welcomes criticism. And you are CRAAAAAZY!!!! |
Her team pays for it, sorry. That’s how it is for all celebrities, with the publishing industry being in the bad shape it is in. |
I don’t follow music like I used to so I don’t know much about new music since the late 90s. I’m aware of a couple of her songs because they were so ubiquitous, but I don’t think they were anything brilliant.
I’m generally aware that much of her music is about her failed love life so I’ve been watching the unfolding romance with the football player with some amusement, waiting for the other cleat to drop. If I’d had any opinion of her if would have been diminished by her attraction to the NFL as a source of entertainment or to find a romantic partner. |
Why do I have to "admit" that she is successful and world wide famous? These are factual statements. Obviously, she is a billionaire and everyone knows who she is. To your second point: yes, I would "attack" a white man in the same way I might criticize Taylor, by criticizing the quality of the art he creates or the way he utilizes his public person. In fact, I do so all the time. White men I am known to criticize include: Jeff Bezos, Jimmy Fallon, Johnny Depp, Jared Leto, John Travolta, and Jason Bateman. That is merely the Js. I find myself criticizing white men a lot more than I find myself criticizing women, because I am most likely to criticize people who are very powerful, and who I perceive as wielding their power in unproductive or harmful ways. Taylor Swift if very powerful, so she is going to come in for this kind of criticism. Finally, my opinion counts as much as yours does. Our opinions are equal. You love Taylor Swift and think she can do no wrong, I do not love her and thing she does several things wrong. Both valid opinions. |
Folklore and Midnights are her two best albums, IMO. |
It's well known that Taylor has a history of manipulating tabloids and paparazzi. At one point the fashion blog Tom & Lorenzo made a joke about all her "empty purse" paparazzi shots because she was so obviously getting dressed up in an outfit, either having her team tip of the paparazzi or going where they were known to be, and then swanning out of a car or down a street in her little outfit with her little purse, which was completely empty because she wasn't going anywhere or doing anything except ensuring she was photographed so that her picture would appear in the tabloids. Also her relationship with Tom Hiddleston also smelled like a sham designed to garner media attention. These things happened before she was mega famous like she is now. Now she doesn't need to tip of paparazzi or fake a relationship with another celeb for attention. Good for her. But now instead she'll complain about the intensity of attention. Which she aggressively courted for two decades in order to get to this point in her career. Girl, no. This is what she wanted. She go it. It comes with down sides. Boo hoo. |
That’s dumb. She writes all her songs and has a bazillion awards for it. I don’t even know more than a few of her songs but I can appreciate she works her ass off and has talent, even if it’s not music I listen to myself. |
She has really grown on me over the years (I’m 55 and have a late-teen daughter who has grown up with TS music). I think she is a talented song writer and like her self-deprecating humor. I do think she’s becoming overexposed this year, but at least she’s a pretty good role model - hard worker and loyal friend who doesn’t dress like the Kardashians. I like her. |
I have a LOT of criticisms of Taylor but I think she is a genuinely stunning classic beauty, especially in the last couple of years. I really can’t imagine how anyone could find her average or ugly. |
