All her looks are freaking amazing.

I thought the same thing

Absolutely! Her fashion game was especially strong in that episode. Not sure how to describe the color of the leather outfit, cool rust or warm salmon? Really beautiful. I also adored the outfit she wore to the performance, and would love to know where to find those trousers!

Rebecca and Miguel are well off and Kevin is also financially very well off. As is Randall. Kate is the only sibling that isn't.

There's well off and then there's spending $300-500K a year just in salaries for round the clock home care.

Ridiculous to assume home health could take care of her. There’s a reason why there are so many memory care facilities are being built.

Previous episodes have shown Rebecca trying to control Kate's diet, which was both awful and realistic. I loved seeing Kate stand up for herself and her determination to break the food-policing cycle, and it made me cringe to see Toby acknowledge genetics and to say "People are horrible to fat kids, and the solution is not to get fat, despite genetics." Yeah, Toby, and the solution to depression is to buck up and look on the bright side.

Or, you know, you could be supportive of people and treat everyone as having value.

Really disliking Toby, maybe for the first time.

Toby made serious lifestyle changes, focused on healthy diet and exercise, to lose a significant amount of weight. I think it's reasonable for him to suggest attention to diet and exercise would be beneficial for the kids, as someone who's been on both sides. Kate may have been dealt a worse genetic hand, but she doesn't seem particularly attentive to diet and exercise concerns.

+1
Her weight is a major health hazard.

To be fair, I think a big reason “Toby” lost weight was the backlash against actors wearing fat suits. Likewise, I think originally Kate was going to go on a weight loss journey as part of her storyline, but there was a lot of backlash to that, especially after Chrissy revealed losing weight was written into her contract.

I think her extreme obesity it very dangerous, but it’s not like we have a plethora of overweight actresses like we do overweight actors. So yes, it is refreshing that Kate’s story doesn’t entirely revolve around her weight.

Can you really maintain a 400-lb life without eating A TON of food? It doesn't make sense to me that they show her eating healthy food, and yet she is so large.

Also, just physics seems to dictate that a 375 -400 lb person could not just pull up a small chair at the table and talk to Rebecca without said chair breaking. Most chairs hold 250-300lbs, max. She would need re-inforced furniture, no?

Why? What does it change for you?

Closure for Kate’s character. That she worked out her issues. If Kevin can be sober why can’t Kate lose weight?

Is gaining weight written into actor contracts? Or clauses about being muscular, etc? Not saying any of them are okay. But, why are we only shaming one and not the other?

I haven't seen anyone shaming Kate/Chrissy Metz. I see concern for her health. Kate self-medicates with food like Kevin does with drugs and alcohol.

I have a friend who is 300+ pounds. Chrissy looks more like 450-500 lbs.

And the chair question, no she would need bigger furniture. As previously mentioned, she needs bigger chairs when she goes on talk shows.

He loves her. I think he's going to do what Randall suggested.

Or, he's going to somehow get back with the mother of his child, since she's there in Boston with him. (Good luck with that, Malik!)

I know. I was sad about this, but I think he's going to ditch her too, so that she can live her own life. I love both of them.

Why is Malik's ex and her family in Boston, weren't they from Philly?
