Not the PP but the general DA discussion has left the building and has devolved into FCV centric minutiae that lacks any general interest.

The topic of this thread is "Travel Soccer teams around NOVA let's discuss". The FCV discussion is absolutely on-topic. Remember that no one is forcing you to read any of the posts you find boring, and you are always free to introduce a new topic.

Someone made a simple suggestion and it was seconded. You also don't have to care what was suggested as well. But the point that it is trending more narrowly and is beginning to beat a dead horse. The point of a more specific thread is to let that dead horse get beaten there. If people are truly interested they will follow and it can take on its own life. Nothing wrong with that at all. I disagree with the PP that it is now a "FCV bitchfest" when pretty much all comments truly were respectful. That said, every time someone recommends to "take it outside" it isn't a reason to get butt hurt. It is only a suggestion that you are free to do or not do. Your rights have not been attacked, you have not been called a troll and yes, they can scroll and move on as easily as you can.

But for DA, Loudoun and FCV interested folks there is some merit that it has value as a stand alone thread and people are still able to go there if they wish.

Not the PP, but you sure are spending a lot of energy over something you don't control. Let the topic die out on its own. Like every other topic here. Give me a break . . .

With that said...I've been following this post for a long time and read all the posts about Loudoun, BRYC, FCV, WS, Reston, ECNL, and GDA and I don't know what the F is going on. I also don't even know where the hell FCV is located or if it's even a stand alone club. Is it like VISTA who is just used for admin purposes or does FCV actually have field space? It's all so confusing. Maybe someone should explain a little so the conversation is appealing to general soccer lovers and not just like 5 people....one whose daughter plays for PWSI, one in Loudoun, one in McLean, and two I have no idea. I know I can leave this site, but I don't want to. I'd like to stay and become educated but these posts are doing everything but that. It's a mess.

All legitimate questions. I'll attempt a couple of answers:

1. VISTA (and Virginia Blackwatch) is unique. It's truly a catch-all for independent teams looking for a way into NCSL. Their site, unusually in youth soccer circles, does a pretty good job of explaining what they do: http://www.vista-soccer.org/

2. FC Virginia, on the other hand, is an ambitious club intending to serve elite players. And unlike some clubs, they've actually delivered at times -- at least on the girls side. The departing Terry Foley is a coach with a big resume and a pugnacious attitude: http://www.soccerwire.com/news/clubs/youth-boys/fc-virginia-open-house-reveals-big-plans-despite-naysayers/

(Given that, it's really hard for me to imagine FCV without him, which is why I've been asking about it.)

Any specific questions about ECNL and GDA? It's actually an interesting (and frustrating) conflict to follow if you're interested in player development in the USA, and it certainly has some ramifications here -- not just for the clubs involved with those leagues but for other clubs that will face a lot of competition to keep their top players and perhaps less competition ON the field.

Valid questions but considering that regardless of Foley's departure the FCV staff have all been there for sone time, particularly management I don't see FCV dramatically changing in regards to philosophy or process.

It's nice of you to answer his question but personally, posters on here should not have to provide enough background in every post so that the soccer illiterate is fully educated on the particular club/team/coach/league that's the subject of a post. Seriously, how freaking hard is it to google fc virginia if you want more information?

I haven't commented on the Terry Foley discussion yet, but I tend to agree with the prior poster that Terry's departure raises a lot of questions. Yes, the coaching staff will remain mostly the same but for anyone with a passing familiarity with FCV (which would be anyone interested in the highest levels of girls travel soccer in the DMV), who know that Terry has an out-sized personality and his efforts have played the dominant role in the growth of that club. That personality has probably contributed to some of the issues that outsiders have with that club (the recruiting, perceived aloofness, etc.) From a technical/coaching perspective, yes, the club may be fine, but in terms of vision and ambition, that's not clear at all.

^^ True burn those are long term issues and would always be the case. In the short term the club will keep on keepin on.

A person attempting to be helpful and answering a few questions for interested but confused parents can only be helpful in the long run by bringing in diverse perspectives on topics. I am not the poster that asked the questions, but nonetheless benefited from the answers.

What percentage of players in northern Virginia are future national team players....

Playing in College is the goal for 99.5% of our girls playing travel soccer. That is why the ECNL has a better chance of long term success than the DA. This isn't Men's soccer. The Girls want a good education and 4 more years of soccer.

Coming from the Arlington transplant from New Jersey who has more family ties to the south Bronx than nova and lives in a $900,000 1200 square foot row house built in 1775 and drinks wine with his bearded fake tough guys friends while listening to beck........now go back into your cubicle...your vape break is over

There are no 1775 built row houses in Arlington. And, it's craft beer--not wine. Try getting your insults correct.

According to Wkileaks, Sean Spicer is set to announce that Donald Trump will sign an executive order baring all prius driving Arlington residence from joining the DA. Any truth to that rumor? What! It's a legitimate question...

Oldtown,Alexandria and Georgetown are where you find the 1775 rowhouses. Arlington is mostly post-war and the men are more metrosexual than hipster.

DC Stoddert fits your description though.
