Yeesh. Biography of Meghan Markle to be written by Tom Bower, who is apparently notorious for his cutting writing on public figures. He's getting a "six figure advance" to write this.

The mistake the British made was airing all of Meghan's dirty laundry all the way back in 2017. As soon as her engagement was announced they had her father and stepsister on national TV whining about a wedding invitation and begging to see her. Neither has seen Meghan in 3 and 10 years respectively. The British tabloids even sent a private investigator to L.A. with express instructions to get negative quotes on Meghan and no one said anything IN LOS ANGELES. In other words this guy has nothing to 'cut' her with. |

Hilaria is different than Markle in significant ways. First, Hilaria is pretending to be nebulously Hispanic and promotes herself as an aspirational figure to less flexible moms. She literally hosts a podcast to dispense parenting advice. She is also a proven and unrepentant liar, benefitting from an assumed identity as an immigrant.
Markle is none of these things. She's an actual minority. She actually lived as an immigrant of sorts in Canada and the UK for most of her adult life. And importantly, we are not her target audience. She is trying to be mega, hugely famous. Not a really well known mommy blogger. I can get not liking Markle but it's qualitatively different. |

There are articles about Harry's new jobs in WaPo, articles about Meghan all over the place. There was a lot of buzz before and after the Oprah interview. A lot of people are talking about her. That's the qualitative difference. It's not personal hatred, it's opinion. The royals are fun to talk about, a harmless diversion. And Meghan is very diverting. |

There are many many posts on here with people bent out of shape about “haters” who have different opinions. Its like the fans are personally offended people criticize MM. it’s weird. So much so they crowd to have toer own thread for only fans. Why are they so thin skinned and serious about royal drama? |

I think this is what you haters don't understand. The other side isn't really made up of 'fans'. I know I have posted here on and off in defense of her and I would not describe myself as a fan. I did watch the Oprah interview but it was mostly your guys' vitriol that has driving my passing interest. Which, like another pp, will evaporate once I'm allowed to leave my house again. I am not a fan driven to defend her honor. I just literally think you guys sound deranged. And I have been on DCUM for years! I post here a lot! I have read the Hilaria thread. THIS thread reads more like a breastfeeding thunderdome thread than an entertainment thread. Just absolute mud being slung. I am compelled to defend her BECAUSE of the level of cruelty in your comments, not because of anything intrinsic about her. It was this thread that drove me to learn more about this situation. You want to point to these other threads to be like, 'oh look other people are doing it too its just mindless fun teehee' but no, you guys are cruel full on Regina George-ing. Except worse, a worse Regina George. I'm sorry its so uncomfortable for you to be confronted with that. |

You should really get a life. Nobody here knows each other. There is no "gang". I'm not uncomfortable reading your drivel, I mostly skim what what other people say when I post here. You are an inconsequential mosquito to me way over invested in this drama and I can't be bothered to read your paragraphs of garbage psychology pretending to know what makes people tick. Maybe that would be a good area for Harry to focus his mental health initiatives on - the mental health of people who are celebrity-obsessed, including over he and Meghan. Right? It’s just gossip. Gossip is a part of life and will never be eradicated. For the most part, it is relatively harmless. There are certainly way bigger problems in this world right now. The idea that any DCUM posters “feel compelled to defend” Meghan is ridiculous. She is absolutely gorgeous, has an adoring husband, lives in an enormously expensive mansion, is about to have a second healthy child, enjoys friendships with A listers like Oprah and Clooney, and is rich beyond your wildest dreams. There are lots of unfortunate people in the world facing terrible circumstances who could genuinely use your help. Meghan clearly isn’t one of them. |
