Honestly, I think the state needs to step in ASAP. It takes a whole lot for me to say that, because I strongly disagree with Youngkin’s views on public education. However, I’m not sure there is another way aside from the state getting involved to ensure a true, transparent and independent investigation to actually take place.
Reid and the school board (minus a few) have shown they are incompetent at best, and complicit and deceitful at worst. It’s very clear they knew about this and didn’t want it coming to light. It is also clear they are only investigating now because of the immense pressure that has been put on them by documents and texts being leaked that they have had all along.
They were left with no choice but to approve an investigation, but they can’t be trusted to properly investigate the extraordinary negligence from every level, from principal to district superintendent to superintendent that led to this.
We know Reid knew way more than she let on, and still called it all “misinformation” in attempt to get ahead of the story and discredit it. She attempted to squash it until she couldn’t. I have no confidence that she will not hinder this investigation, minimize its scope, and refuse to let the full report be seen (minus redacted information for student privacy.)
