Would the Commonwealth Attorney General have any angle in investigating this as the school receives money from the state government? If they knowingly were declaring students homeless who were not wouldn't the state want to recoup money given to the school?

The feds would have an angle because it's extra federal funding. The commonwealth's attorney would because it's county funds being improperly spent and official records being falsified

Honestly, I think the state needs to step in ASAP. It takes a whole lot for me to say that, because I strongly disagree with Youngkin’s views on public education. However, I’m not sure there is another way aside from the state getting involved to ensure a true, transparent and independent investigation to actually take place.

Reid and the school board (minus a few) have shown they are incompetent at best, and complicit and deceitful at worst. It’s very clear they knew about this and didn’t want it coming to light. It is also clear they are only investigating now because of the immense pressure that has been put on them by documents and texts being leaked that they have had all along.

They were left with no choice but to approve an investigation, but they can’t be trusted to properly investigate the extraordinary negligence from every level, from principal to district superintendent to superintendent that led to this.

We know Reid knew way more than she let on, and still called it all “misinformation” in attempt to get ahead of the story and discredit it. She attempted to squash it until she couldn’t. I have no confidence that she will not hinder this investigation, minimize its scope, and refuse to let the full report be seen (minus redacted information for student privacy.)

Melanie Meren, the lady who was very strident about keeping schools closed to stop the spread of disease whilst hiring a private teacher for her kids and their friends as a "pod" and letting her participate in travel sports summer/fall of 2020? That Melanie Meren?

Not sure public school systems fall under consumer complaints.

You expect Overton to do his job? That’s hilarious.

That’d have been overtime since it was after school hours.

Thanks for confirming that his job is so low-paying it isn't an exempt position. So he only makes about $44K a year in the role. Yikes.

Yeah he’s poor and broke just like most coaches.

I checked the FCPS website and Overton’s position of safety and security specialist is an exempt position and the salary range is $56k - $96k. Also, the Hayfield site shows he is supervising 5 security assistants. If he was just an office assistant in his prior job for PWCS as someone mentioned here, then it looks like he got one hell of a promotion to work for FCPS. Would be interesting to know what his resume looks like to receive such a promotion.

Why does a school need 6 security officers (in addition to the SRO)?

I’m assuming because of Hayfield’s size and that it’s a secondary school housing both a middle and high school in one.

So it's him and all his buddies all who don't have training in the area?
