Parents can and should reject any quack advice that involves duct taping a child’s appendages. I’m really surprised that that needs to be said, or that people believe such a horrid practice is somehow validated because someone out there, supposedly a licensed professional, thought it would be a good idea. Use your brain. |
Are you his dr or therapist or specialist? No. Clearly they made that decision for a reason. Enough with this now. The only “abuse” you all are continuing to talk about, is a taped thumb. Get over it. |
There's also neglect, and exploitation. |
What's truly gross is adopting a child specifically with special needs, using that child to make money, create content, and clout, and then cutting all of his speech therapy, and occupational therapy out completely, and only offering that child 7 hours of ABA therapy. It also should be noted how she constantly referred to H as her adopted son, and her other children as her BIOS. Not sure if that is common among adoptive families (I hope not), but it doesn't seem there was any real inclusion. |
I agree that this is a thing and have heard of it before. What makes this situation despicable is the amount of money she has earned as a direct result of this child. Bet her family is set for life. And this little boy? Gets nothing. And then given away. |
THIS. What all her defenders aren't getting is that it's not JUST that they gave up the child. It's that they fully exploited him for content and financial gain first. |
Can someone explain this obsession with watch these carefully curated videos of perfect mamas and large families on You Tube, I just don't get it they take hours to edit and video so how much time are these perfect mamas spending with their usually homeschooled kids? they need to be banned ... https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/myka-stauffer-youtube-social-media-children-huxley-rehoming-adoptive-a9539201.html |
This is not common amongst educated and committed adoptive families, thankfully. |
I am a professional who works children with SN and I have one of my own with autism. It is truly unheard of for medical professionals to recommend rehoming as they are implying unless it is one of the scenarios I mentioned. They chose to make public their lives and make a huge amount of money. IMO they need to be legally required to use any money made off his image to go toward his therapies and future ideally in a special needs trust. He should have rights here. He was used as a model and child actor to profit. |
We know she didn't meet his needs and simply gave him away. She could have done so much more for that kid but as he got older and his needs clearer she realized she couldn't have the life she wanted with him. So, she gave him away and went on a vacation to Bali and continued to pimp products to make a living. |
+1, I have worked in adoptions and adopted. Never would a medical professional suggest this. They would suggest all kinds of therapies and treatments and things like respite. |
She posted about how irritating the child was for staring at them while they eat. She did not love him. She is an asshole and the poor child is better off without her. |
It looks like she is sending the kids to school but I don't get the obsession either. How much time can they spend with their kids when they have to set up for the shoots, shoot, edit, coach the kids and spend hours trying to manage all the products/companies and social media. It is all staged. Most large families have the kids taking care of the kids. |
He was probably trying to figure out things as he wasn't being taught. A child like that has to be taught everything, the teaching repeated many times over and over again. He isn't coming to their home speaking english, feeding himself, etc. So, if someone isn't supporting him 24/7 he's probably not sure or curious. |
What people know are her actual words which included statements suggesting. that she would never give him up, he has made huge strides, in some ways he is easier than expected, that is he is living and full of smiles, that the challenges are manageable, etc. Many of us also know how the system works and we know how extreme things have to be for this scenario to play out the way it did. She is BSing somewhere and possibly everywhere. Once you chose to profit off your personal life, people will discuss you. You don't get to make ridiculous amounts of money showing your personal life and then get up in arms when people speculate about things and wonder. |
