Biden's VP?

And will NEVER EVER vote a ticket with Klobuchar. Ask anyone who works on the hill or has ever worked with her. NEVER.

So true.

Warren really seems far and away the best VP candidate. Most Democrats wanted her, but after the last few years, they went with the known quantity of Biden. Warren would delight most Democrats.

If it’s the underwhelming Buttigieg, expect friction from most of the Democratic women. I mean we’ll vote for stale bread, but come on.

Val Demings would be a great choice. She brings needed diversity to the ticket and she's from a swing state. I'm not sure why everyone is so focused on former candidates - usually the VP doesn't end up being a previous presidential candidate.

Well said.

I like Demings quite a lot. Some people think Biden should go with someone he doesn’t have to introduce to the country. Demings isn’t particularly well known.

In both 2008 and 2004, the Democratic VP candidate was someone who ran during that cycle.

It's over. It's Amy

fwiw - not a lot, but anecdotes are fun - today i met a minnesotan who told me she’s always voted republican but is prepared to vote for biden this time if he picks klobuchar as his vp. she said she has a lot of republican friend who’ve said the same. (i asked her what she thought of harris and she said “too radical” which struck me as code for “too black” but who knows.)

I think it will probably be Amy, but I don't rule out Harris or Whitmer. Amy seems like the best fit with Joe, but Whitmer is similar and last night's appearance reminded me of Harris's sheer star power.

I find it difficult, shall we say, to believe that Klobuchar is vastly worse than most other senators or reps. I don’t even like her, and this sounds like spun-up sexist malarkey.

I say Kamala.
1. She’s qualified and has experience.
2. She comes from a safe state where the Dems won’t lose a Senate seat.
3. She’s got that moderate background so she will be attractive to conservative Dems and independents who might be scared off by someone further to the left.
4. She will be attractive to voters who want to see a woman and/or a minority on the ticket (indeed, she’s part black and part Southeast Asian, so attractive to two groups).
5. She is a happy warrior like Biden, so she fits the ethos.
6. She is a relatively young and exuberant campaigner and so counterbalances the old-man element of Biden, Pence, and Trump.
7. She is young enough that she could serve through 4 or 8 years of Biden, and still be young enough to run as his successor.
8. She matches up well against Nikki Haley, who seems to be the person the GOP is positioning to run in 2024 after Trump gets his ass kicked.
9. She would kick Pence’s ass at the VP debate, and generally would be an effective attacker as VP.
10. She has the recent Senate experience she can use on legislative affairs issues.

Only negatives I see are (a) some voters will dislike that she’s black, but frankly ... screw them, (b) some Bernie voters will consider her too moderate. I see those as small prices to pay for all her advantages.

I’m not sure she’s my personal first choice, but I think she is the right choice.

Meh.

Adds little, brings way too much baggage.
