Also how self important are they? They need to get over themselves. It is NYC there are famous people everywhere. Kensington palace literally announced where William and Kate were staying when they were in NY earlier this year. This is clearly something they tried to exaggerate and milk for attention and to bring into the case they have pending for why they need to have tax-payer security.

William and Kate also get palace funded security and y nypd protection. Harry and Meg have to pay for their own.

Wow. Public opinion of them in the US has really changed. At the time of Oprah ppl were just lapping up everything they said.

Not true. They are hated here by online troll and monarchists there. The account here is being twisted, no mention of chase before cab ride, twisted words ( no one ever said high speed chase), etc. They didn't do anything wrong. They were chased, they didn't want people at their door step, they didn't exaggerate anything. But all the trolls are. The interesting thing isn't the incident, it's the aftermath, just like the book. It's you, not them. You'll eventually get tired of it. Now go watch Kate play the palace piano for 30 seconds in a gown. Then go get a hobby.

But why issue the statement if the first place? They want the world to know about their suffering and most people are getting sick of it.

Meghan didn't call them that time.

Huh? The whole thing started because of their *own* statement about a “near catastrophic car chase”:

”Last night, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi,” the couple’s spokesperson said.

“This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officers.”

So where did the rest of the 2 hours go?

Anyone?

They left the Ballroom at about 10pm in their SUV. An hour later, they pulled into the 19th Precinct (1.4 miles from the Ballroom) after being unsuccessful at shaking the paps and not wanting to lead them to the friend's house where they were staying. The paps were at the Precinct and so someone thought they could outsmart the paps by having the trio get in a cab instead. But the cab got stopped at a light / behind a truck and the paps weren't outsmarted and some found them there (those on foot had easy access to them in stopped traffic). They then realized the cab wasn't going to work either so the cabbie drove them around the block and dropped them back off at the 19th Precinct. From there it seems police gave them some kind of escort or blocked the paps to let the trio get away (in their own SUV again) and they finally got to their friend's place at midnight.

Always staying at some celebrity "friend's" house, whim they barely know.

Ouch. You sound jealous ASF. You don’t even know who the friend is, but you’re quick to opine that they don’t know their host. Weirdo.

There were no accidents or injuries during this 2 hour debacle, so “near catastrophic” is a bit of a stretch.

Also, why let it go on for 2 hours? Seems the driver should have pulled over. This wasn’t a mob trying to kill them. It’s horribly invasive, but surely avoiding being photographed after appearing at a much-publicized public event isn’t worth anyone’s life. So stop the car. Surely someone had a phone and could call police?

+1 Exactly my thoughts when reading. Don't want to compromise your friend's house, then stay at a hotel. Pull over. Anything is better than endangering people's lives.

Nice victim blaming.

Yes, I can see that with the hotel. But, not with pulling over. It said the chase included driving on sidewalks. Prince Harry should have know it was highly dangerous given his mom’s death. Would your answer still be the same if a pedestrian was hurt or killed as a result?

If I truly wanted privacy however after a public event, I would stay at a hotel, since they are equipped at handling this.

You’ll never what you would do because you will never have the opportunity to make such a decision.

The taxi driver, Sunny Singh, said it wasn't a chase.

The taxi driver also said NYC was safe.

I think it took 2 hours total, they switched cars - went back to the police precinct etc.. honestly were being super stupid. Just let the paparazzi take pictures, it is what it is. The avoiding the paps/war on paparazzi is Harry's little medieval war and while he is right- this sort of thing makes them look ridiculous.

They did let the paparazzi take pictures. There were tons of paparazzi pictures of both H&M coming and going. Meg’s dress is sold out because of the pap pictures. How long are they supposed to stand and take pictures. Are they to never leave and go about their business when are enough pictures enough for you people.

In the meantime the rest of us can give our opinions on people tearing around cities, driving dangerously, risking the lives of others because they don't want their photo taken. Their antics can't put the public at risk.

Well the mayor has made a statement that some photographers on motorbikes were riding on the sidewalk in the wrong direction. So yes that could have been a catastrophe. I’m thinking of the pedestrians. Screw the paparazzi

The Royal Family is currently covering up a story like this. A woman was struck by a police escort for Sophie as they headed to some royal engagement. The woman is in a coma, the royals put out a statement offering thoughts and prayers, but it’s largely been swept under the rug by the British media. I wonder why?!

In the H&M car chase, their driver was going onto sidewalks, scattering pedestrians, driving recklessly. I don't know any details of the UK incident but the NY incident doesn't reflect well on H&M.

Not their driver. The paparazzi drivers.

William and Kate work for the palace. And visit NYC on official state business. They also...wait for it...allow themselves to be photographed.

Yep. She is freaking out about how irrelevant she is and she desperately needs to remind everyone that she's Diana #2. Lol.

So irrelevant you are 24 pages deep in a thread about her. Stop, you are a stan. It's ok to admit that you love and adore her.

...you need help.

Like, if you actually believe the Grifters of Sussex are being hounded by paps in cars in a city where that's next to impossible, in the era of the Internet where dozens of passers-by and motorists would've confirmed it, in an era of surveillance where there are cameras EVERYWHERE (and paparazzi know that, and she's not worth the trouble), you need help.

This is not the Nineties. Very few celebrities today command the kind of glittering rock-star status Princess Diana had, and paparazzi don't chase people through the streets anymore precisely because of what happened to Princess Diana.

They attended some random event where I saw a Hertz sign. Hardly glamorous enough to chase for photos. She doesn't have the shine of a princess, and she knows it, and she's making up a sick lie because she wants people to believe she's a reincarnation of Diana or something. People like her need help.

Here is a perfect take in Meghan, the Wannabe queen of hearts of Wonderland!

This story is the gift that keeps on giving!

Backgrid's lawyer has rejected the Sussex's demand, saying in a letter ... "In America, as I'm sure you know, property belongs to the owner of it: Third parties cannot just demand it be given to them, as perhaps Kings can do. Perhaps you should sit down with your client and advise them that his English rules of royal prerogative to demand that the citizenry hand over their property to the Crown were rejected by this country long ago. We stand by our founding fathers."

Hilarious.

It's not DCUM. Sorry. The TMZ article above your post is not at all on H&M's side. They are losing goodwill every second. Ouch.
