It was reported a couple of months ago that he wasn’t seeking citizenship or a green card.

He needs at least a work visa to be legally employed in the US.

Imagine ICE going after Rent a Royal!

Now he has a second "job"

"The Duke of Sussex is teaming up with the nonprofit Aspen Institute for a six-month study exploring of misinformation in America.

"As I've said, the experience of today's digital world has us inundated with an avalanche of misinformation, affecting our ability as individuals as well as societies to think clearly and truly understand the world we live in," Prince Harry, 36, said in a statement, according to CNN."

If this is a paid position I call foul. Since the pandemic, there are plenty of unemployed communications/social media/tech media people who need a job and could easily do a six-month study.

What kind of work visa is he eligible for? He has no special skills.

He has "unique skills" as a royal and ex British military and the patron and founder of some international children's charities.

Perhaps he is going to try the same crap as The Times' David Brooks/WeaveProject tried but got caught at. Nothing like being in Facebook's pocket. Wonder how the "prince" will address that during his six-month study.

"A spokesperson for the Aspen Institute, a Washington, DC–based think tank, confirmed to BuzzFeed News that the Weave Project has received funding from Facebook. “A number of our programs, including Weave: The Social Fabric Project, work with Facebook in accordance with their missions and have accepted funding for specific projects,” the spokesperson said.

Brooks’s ties to Facebook raise questions of conflicts of interest at the world’s most influential newspaper, and highlight how the social network is working to rehabilitate its brand after years of criticism and scrutiny for its roles in spreading conspiracy theories, fomenting hate, and influencing elections. The revelation of the social network’s ties to Brooks and his Aspen Institute work comes after the company has shifted its focus to emphasize building communities in Facebook Groups, despite internal research suggesting that the product fosters polarization, radicalization, and misinformation."

Da fuq kind of expertise can Prince Harry bring to a disinformation study? He’s not a writer, a thinker, a sociologist, a tech expert, a security expert, or a political expert. On any level. That’s...bananas.

He knows a bit about British tabloids and British privacy laws. Maybe he'll be the British expert...

The Aspen Institute would get a far better ROI with any of the Made in Chelsea cast.

Prestige whoring is still whoring. It’s all absurd but at least his mad money isn’t coming from working people in the UK what with all that prior unsurvivability.

Anonymous wrote:You all are a broken record. You had these exact same ‘concerns’ about Meghan paying taxes after moving to the UK. I’m sure their bevy of financial advisors have it handled.

Meanwhile the US media is actually gloating at having first and primary access to the worlds most popular royal.

Are you a US taxation expert? If not, consider taking your H&W worship over to the thread which is for Meghan and Harry fans ONLY.

Taxation is a serious concern and despite a "bevy" of financial experts, these two are already suspect as they've been reasonably accused of lying about other issues.

In fact, I believe they may try a common ploy which is to filter money through their non-profit - and shows that they developed Archewell for just that purpose. So their self-proclaimed philanthropy will be easily blown to shreds.

Archewell may be nothing more than a money laundering machine.

Again, I hope someone from the IRS (or media) will roll their sleeves up on this one.

LOL

This was written by someone who reads more salacious novellas than finance periodicals.

Laugh all you want. And you are very, very wrong if you think the people posting on DCUM are a nothing but a bunch of TV-watching, chocolate-eating moms/dads with nothing better to do.

Plenty of people on here are highly-educated and are very experienced in these issues. Not to mention politically active and/or connected.

Again, if anyone out there in DCUM-land is experienced with taxation laws, including non-profits feel free to weigh in. If you can break away from your "salacious novella" long enough, that is.

I didn't say people who post on DCUM are nothing but that. I said you were.

5 years ago she was a struggling D list actress aging in Hollywood, single and hustling for new jobs as her TV series was coming to a close.

Now she is worth 400 mil + on the way to billions. Married to a literal Prince and most eligible man in the world. Living in a lavish mansion amongst the world's biggest names, hobnobbing with royals and state heads, running multiple passion projects and raising aristocratic kids.

Wow life is unfair!

And yet she can’t seem to stop whining. Makes you wonder.

TBH I am less interested in her than I am in what happens to Harry here in the U.S. especially when it comes to his residency status, his work visa, his taxes, etc.

You can't have one set of immigration rules for "commoners" and one for "royalty." Same goes with taxes. If you want a high-visibility life especially as a means to earn money, then be prepared for high-visibility scrutiny too.

We have had a separate visa system for important people for forever. Justin Bieber has an O visa, you think he gets hung up on immigration when traveling in for concerts?

I like pp's suggestion that he might be using EB5, he could definitely be doing that. My bet is on an O visa or EB5. Or, as others have said, he could have a green card based on Meghan. He would not ever need to become an American citizen after that, there is no requirement that someone applies for citizenship after they have had their green card for a certain length of time, it just allows you to be a permanent working resident.

Anonymous wrote:Was there a PP up above who was seriously arguing that the IRS should be reading a thread on DCUM to get advice on how to handle Harry's tax affairs?

Damn.

You'd be surprised who reads these threads. It is DC after all.

Oh my God. You are totally and utterly delusional. WOW. It's obvious to even a casual observer that the haters in this thread are crazy, but this is some next-level insanity.

+1 hahahahahhhahaha

OMG pp. Even if an IRS person who hates MM and Harry was READING THIS THREAD AND AGREED WITH YOU. It would be violating about 10 different laws for them to take it upon themselves to go looking them up in the system. There are INCREDIBLY strict rules about looking up people who's cases you are not assigned at both the IRS and USCIS (I work at one of them!). To the point where they literally record people who search for specific individuals, and then that person can be fired like, immediately.

This is why people think you guys are like, both stupid and hateful. Harry brings notoriety. OBVIOUSLY. He brings an eff ton of press. He brings an international platform and the ability to do things like bring in big $$$ donors. You think Jennifer Aniston is a subject matter expert in Vitamin Water and that she's stealing jobs from PR people who, if only if it wasn't for greedy Jen, could be the one to shill Vitamin Water? Of course not! She's hired as a walking commercial. So is Harry.

Excellent comparison and analogy. Yes, I agree that Harry represents the male version of Jen's skill set.

These are pretty solid gigs for someone with his background and interests.

I am curious about what roles Meghan is aiming for. She has a college degree. Probably U.S. President or a senate seat.

Why would she do that? A lot of hard work for no money? That’s not Meghan’s style.

She was a working actress in Hollywood for more than a decade. And not an exceptionally famous one but one that always had steady work. I think you can say a lot of things about her that are debateable, but not wanting to work hard really seems to actually not one of them. She did far more events and travel as a working Royal than her counterparts and did more extra projects as well.
