I think this company should be on Immigration and IRS' top lists asking for answers, TBH.

Considering what they make mere mortals go through to be "legal" workers in this country, this is a fair question to ask.

Especially if you hate double standards.

Yep. Time for someone in the IRS to start rolling up their sleeves and digging into this one.

I believe the US has taxation laws which say a person's overseas income must be taxed HERE. So if Harry is getting income from UK, from Charles' personal account for example, then that income is subject to US taxes.

I hope someone from the IRS with greater knowledge on this issue is watching this board and can opine...

As a "colonialist" boy ... I would LOVE to see the US take a nice tax chunck out of BRF money! What a joy!!! Now that would make a great headline!

This applies only to citizens.

+100

Also what he received from Charles was a gift not income. As such, if they were all citizens which obviously they are not, wouldn’t it be Charles’ responsibility to pay the gift tax on that and reduce his estate exemption accordingly?

Wrong. It applies to non-citizens, green card holders, every resident. You can relinquish your tax status in the UK and only pay in the US however.

Anonymous wrote:You all are a broken record. You had these exact same ‘concerns’ about Meghan paying taxes after moving to the UK. I’m sure their bevy of financial advisors have it handled.

Meanwhile the US media is actually gloating at having first and primary access to the worlds most popular royal.

Are you a US taxation expert? If not, consider taking your H&W worship over to the thread which is for Meghan and Harry fans ONLY.

Taxation is a serious concern and despite a "bevy" of financial experts, these two are already suspect as they've been reasonably accused of lying about other issues.

In fact, I believe they may try a common ploy which is to filter money through their non-profit - and shows that they developed Archewell for just that purpose. So their self-proclaimed philanthropy will be easily blown to shreds.

Archewell may be nothing more than a money laundering machine.
So
Again, I hope someone from the IRS (or media) will roll their sleeves up on this one.

DP. Actual tax attorney.

The U.S. is a worldwide tax system that taxes its citizens on their income wherever they go. Harry is not a citizen. Not all money is income. The money he received from Charles appears to have been a gift as he didn’t do anything for it. That means the tax due on that money would be the responsibility of paying taxes on that, all things being equal, would be Charles. If you are curious about the gift tax: https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/frequently-asked-questions-on-gift-taxes

If they are going to reduce their tax burden they are going to do something much more sophisticated than funneling money through a charitable organization as that is very easy to catch lol.

Gah. Typing on my phone. Charles would have the responsibility of paying the tax on a gift.

You are oversimplifying.

Money of a foreign National that is earned in another place is not subject to taxation if it isn’t connected to a us trade or business. I don’t see how Charles money would fall into that. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/taxation-of-nonresident-aliens

This pretty much sums them up and why people generally think they’re sad and gross.

Also where are you guys getting he has a green card?

It was reported a couple of months ago that he wasn’t seeking citizenship or a green card.

He needs at least a work visa to be legally employed in the US.

I missed that.

Aside from working, he can't just live in the US forever without a green card, work visa, or citizenship. Well, he can, but that would be visa fraud and illegal.

There are also other legal forms of status to be legally employed. But he needs something.

Thanks to all of you truly knowledgeable on these subjects for weighing in! I've got a feeling many more questions will arise as to this Royal and his status and taxes.

What kind of work visa is he eligible for? He has no special skills.
