Which age group

Boys or girls? Age group?

I don't think many bother with the Club VDA that only goes up to U-4.

Girls 04. Not even close to what we thought it would be

From what I've heard the 04's are mostly selected so those kids are not going to the ID sessions.

Well I think you heard wrong ?

VDA has had one tryout for the '04 age group before this weekend. I seriously doubt that they "mostly selected" a whole team from that one tryout, and if they did, I question their judgment.

I believe they will have the majority of their squads selected after the 2nd tryouts. They are not building completely new teams. Plus, two to three tryouts are standard. However, I'm sure they will leave a spot or two open on the rosters for later pickups

What would be interesting to know is if they extended offers and locked kids in before the FCV Tryouts this Friday?

No, selected before the first tryout even. Remember, they have been looking at their own girls since the fall.

We must also remember that these are not "tryouts", these are ID sessions. Meaning, no offers may come out of any of these sessions. They are collecting names of kids they like.

Please specify. There are 3 VDA boy clubs with programs for 3 different age groups.

Specify when you are talking about girl DA. Thanks.

I was also unimpressed with the G04 quality of player at the VDA ID day. But my girl isn't already on one of the clubs partnering with VDA so I didn't know whether their 'good' players were there or not.

This is crazy. Tryouts in February? Really

VDA did multiple grids. An evaluator from each grid would select kids to be promoted or regulated. The top kids (in their eyes) were eventually promoted to the top grid....The top kids consistent mostly of the PWSI 04G Red team...the kids that were promoted were then intergraded into the PWSI team (probably the ones already selected)....and a scrimmaged occurred...and they were reevaluated

Agree. I am not ready to make decisions about next year yet but I don't want to end up missing the boat either. Parent of a pretty good 04G here. Currently on a fairly competitive team with a good coach but who knows what happens with all of these changes.

I would say the best thing to do is reach out to the coach or technical director to ask about joining a few training sessions this spring with the age group of your player. That way you get to see normal training sessions without the chaos of tryouts, and maybe chat with some parents depending on the age group.

Tryouts are ID sessions...that's just a play on words

AND YES offers to come out of them. How else would they build a team?
