My HS sophomore will be ECNL ... I think recruiting age players will stick with what is known to work if they have aspirations to play in college |
Younger player (current u12). Training and stay with club. No DA for now. Great coaching where we are and fun. If he's still promising at 14/15--then we'll reassess. |
Very well thought out! #1: IMO...you should take the DA offer on the table...unless you are confident that you can make another DA team....but you better feel pretty confident or you may be homeless #2: The DA is the DA. Either you want to play in the league or you don't. (Older HS girls will opt for ECNL....but that will change in 2-3 years) #3: How good are you? Do you want to be #20 on a strong DA team or #5 on a weaker DA team? How important is playing time? #4: College coaches recruit players not teams. You want to be good enough to be on the field for substantial time. There is no point in "showcasing" if you are on the bench. #5: Have you ever seen standout players on weak teams? I have....and so have college coaches. #6: There is no loyalty. If your club doesn't want you they will cut you. So why should you be loyal to them? Loyalty is a two way street. #7: Do what is in your best interest |
Part 1: I don't know Part 2: Yes Options...options...options |
The level of play at the VDA Tryout was not impressive at all |
Which age group |
Boys or girls? Age group? I don't think many bother with the Club VDA that only goes up to U-4. |
What was apparent is that they already had their core group (mostly PWSI) slated....they were probabley only looking to pickup a few key players that can be true contributors and uplift the level of play.
Some teams are only a player or two away from being "make or break" |
Does anyone know when BRYC will start having ECNL tryouts. Are they going to run ID days or one big tryout in May? |
I can't imagine BRYC doing anything to terribly ahead of regular tryout season. DA kinda needs to sort itself out and current ECNL players well into the recruitment likely want to see how things shake out. Older ECNL kids would likely stay put in ECNL and the younger ECNL players, 04-02, have a different decision matrix. |
I would be very surprised if BRYC starts having formal tryouts before May but would expect to see a few players invited to practices with individual teams before then.
I recommend you ask again after the BRYC townhall meeting next Wednesday and there may be better info. And speaking of club meetings, I hope someone will be able to report the highlights of the FCV meeting tomorrow night. |
I don't get the town hall meetings.....just put it out on the Internet...we can read |
Im sure they will but I think most folks are going for the QA as well as for what is said that is not on the slides. |
Girls 04. Not even close to what we thought it would be |
From what I've heard the 04's are mostly selected so those kids are not going to the ID sessions. |
