Dear middle-aged women: capri pants do nothing for you.

Even if someone had a great bod and was wearing them, I would still think- great ankles and calves- shame about the outfit! How much better would she have looked in something that was not that outfit? It's kind of a look that says "I'm done. I never need sex again. Don't touch me and pass me the pizza"

This thread cracks me up every year. I wear capris because I have had trouble with spider veins since I was 18. If I wore shorts, you shallow bitches would be yelling at me about hiding them.

I'm also tall and thin, so I look fine. My husband could give a sh*t about what I wear, so it has no detrimental effect on my sex life.

Carry on judgy skanks...

Get them fixed. Life is too short for capris from 18 years old onwards.

I went to an event today and many men and women in their 40s and 50s were in attendance. Most of the men wore polo shirts tucked in under their pot bellies and shorts.

Nearly all the women wore capri pants. Capri pants do nothing for you. If you are short, you don't look good in capri pants. If you are fat, you don't look good in capri pants. If you are tall, you don't look good in capri pants. If you are thin, you don't look good in capri pants. No matter the body type or age, capri pants are not flattering.

I say this lovingly. Wear anything else- anything! Shorts (long shorts, if you want to; even short shorts look better than capris), a skirt, pants, anything but capri pants. They make everyone look stumpy and shapeless. No one looks good in them.

Actually I completely disagree, if one is exceptionally short or exceptionally fat that was with the exceptions. But a tapered cylinder Capri can be very stylish with a cute pair of flats or sandals when one correctly

I am worried that ankle pants are the new capris. They're everywhere and few can pull them off.

I did it twice. They just keep coming back.

I DO WHAT I WANT!

I love that this old thread comes up each year. I remember when it started. Funny thing in the 8 years since this thread started -
1. Ankle length / crops / slightly too short pants are now in fashion (but not early 00’s capris)
2. I am now a middle aged woman

Hate capris but I think fitted ankle pants or jeans cuffed to ankle with flats look good on everyone

Exactly. I wear what I want to wear. I am a middle-aged woman who LOVES wearing capri pants! I will probably still be wearing them when I'm 100.

Ha, thanks for reminding me to pull out my capris!

I do what I want but I would love to have an option other than capris. I have had a very hard time finding full length pants for the last 6 years or so. I had malignant melanoma and would rather cover up but no one sells full lenght light weight pants.

I agree with OP - capris are frumpy and this evening if you that think you look good in them are deluding yourselves.

The second woman looks eerily like me, but I don't think I've ever stood in a room with blue trim around the doors. She must be my long lost twin sister (and yes, I have dressed like that for hiking or taking a child to the zoo or activities like that, I'm ashamed to admit)

I've been wearing woman #2's outfit for years and years. Throw on a backpack and I'm ready to go.

Ohhh, I'm thinking a DCUM spring makeover could be inspired by this...

The second woman is wearing Bermuda shorts
