VA Public Schools other than FCPS
How about you just give us the definition and we can stop this silly game? |
Oh I have no problem giving a definition. A woman is an adult female. A man is an adult male. |
She’s an op-ed writer, not an investigative reporter who verifies sources, etc. She just pushes extremely biased RWNJ commentary. |
Because you say so? She's hardly right wing. |
Says anyone who has read her “work” over the years. |
When you’re afraid of the message, blast the messenger. |
Point is - she doesn’t validate sources and pushes biased anti-trans commentary. Bigots gonna bigot. |
One persons “biased anti-trans” commentary is another person’s acknowledgment of scientific reality. |
Anyone who questions the validity of children getting body parts chopped off and taking puberty blockers is now a "bigot." What ever happened to science (biology) and evidence. Why are European countries who jumped on the trans bandwagon, now walking it back in many cases? |
PP who posted the link from Bari Weiss here. I can’t stand her. But how I feel about her has nothing to do with her interview skills as well as the knowledge of the world renowned, award winning bbc investigative journalist that she interviewed. Even the Guardian is praising Hanna Barnes book. Instead of bickering and calling Bari Weiss a hack, take the time to listen to the interview. If you can’t stomach it, Google the journalist and find another interview to listen with her that is around the same length. |
This is what is most interesting about the interview - how the UK is moving away from trans affirming care. |
I think this is the problem. Too bad because it’s a truly excellent interview and I think that both sides have a lot to learn from it (she’s not against puberty blockers for all kids or gender affirming care for all kids). |
Here is a review of Hannah Barnes’ book. https://undark.org/2023/03/24/book-review-time-to-think/ Again the interview is excellent and worth listening to. I just wish that APS admin and staff would take the time to listen to it. |

Social supports in school are such a basic level acknowledgment of an individual’s humanity.
Pushing this out to pro sports or medical transitions is so far past what APS is addressing. Acknowledging identity is not harmful. It is not forever molding a student into that identity either. As human being we (hopefully) evolve and mature over our lifetime. Giving young people space to question and/or assert their inner awareness of themselves is a positive. This includes individuals who are questioning for protective reasons, or as a response to puberty. There are many families who have an unsafe dynamic and giving these students a safe venue to not be on guard and unacknowledged is vital. Ps. I will not debate you. |
| I am in full support of these policies. They are fair and reasonable for all. |
