As they head into high school, don’t be surprised when crush and Coppermine lose a few to skywalkers and M and D. They just don’t have the recruiting reputation yet

The strongest programs in the NGLL (27s-32s) based on representation in the playoff weekend:

Hero’s Green (5 teams)
Maryland United (5 teams)
Coppermine (3 teams)
M&D (3 teams)
BLC(2 teams)
Limelight (2 teams)

Skywalkers didn’t have 1 team represented. They will still draw some too talent for High School, but it’s not as automatic as it used to be. BLC and limelight’s players will all end up elsewhere since they are only middle school programs.

Again, you are thinking small. This is Middle School lacrosse. When it come to high school lacrosse, Skywalkers and M and D are two of the best programs. Other than Yellow Jackets, these two are the best recruiting programs. That’s all that matters

Regardless of HS, I am curious if any of the top Maryland clubs are looking to bolster specific positions? They all seem to be very strong at middie and I suppose a good goalie is always valuable.

Unless you are an absolute stud, it may be difficult to break in to a top MD team at this point.

At this point you'd probably consider joining forces with Pride, which has the deepest team in DMV currently. If you are on Pride, probably best to stick it out another year and prepare for Capital tryouts. If you are indeed a stud, then you can pretty much do whatever you want.

Sounds like Pride girls stay put. Wonder if any top Stars player could/would leave for a top Maryland team?

Stars has some good players that could make top MD teams, but those teams have chosen ones who are studs and not going to give up their key roles. The top Stars girls are main players on their current team, but would likely be role players at best on a top team this late in the game.

But would you define any of Stars players as “studs?” Not that it means anything on an anonymous board.

No, I do not think any Stars players are stud-level. The MDU middie, for example, is a stud, and each of the top teams has one or more studs. No offense to Stars girls, but none are studly enough to displace the studs on the top teams. So, they’d be role players, with the role being get the ball to studs who have the green light to score.

I would amend this analysis. There are top players on DMV teams who could be key contributors on top Maryland teams, and will ostensibly come together to form a formidable Capital team. So I wouldn't diminish their potential to contribute to a Maryland team to "role player". Coppermine and MDU have 2-3 players that are better than any other in the region, but that doesn't mean that the best DMV team players couldn't be top contributors on those teams--including the second or third scoring option.

Also, let's stop using a ridiculously inapplicable term like "stud" to reference outstanding female athletes.

With all due respect, “stud” is an extremely common sports term used to describe a gifted athlete, male or female. It is universally understood and works well in forums discussing sports. “Outstanding female athlete” is just using more words to say the same thing.

The offense is centered around those 2-3 outstanding female athletes. They are not going to redesign the offense fall of 8th grade year due to the arrival of a less outstanding female athlete from a DMV team.

Yes. I call her a "beast" too.

The person using stud only uses applies that to scoring. I guess you can’t be a stud if you’re a defender, goalie or the most athletic girl on the team.

Not to knock another child but MDU lost on Saturday was their best player not studley enough because they didn’t win? No because it’s a team game and at that moment coppermine was a better overall team. Being a stud has nothing to do with scoring behind the backs and or dropping 4-5 on under-matched teams.
