Oakton crash

I ask because in this awful Oakton case, the BMW driver stayed at the scene, was presumably questioned by police and then what? Went to the hospital to get checked out and then home to rest and recover? Where is he now?

Drunk driving itself is a felony. Careless or reckless driving are not. Now if it turns out he was drunk, your questions have merit. If not, the comparison is faulty. Negligence takes longer to prove than inebriation and arresting someone starts a clock on charging them.

Ok thanks for answering.

I’ve watched too many Cops and Live PD shows.

Still would love to know how BMW driver is spending his time like right now. Driving to Beach Week? At his summer job? Sleeping until noon? Shopping for college dorm stuff?

Did he escape this accident without any injuries? If so that’s nearly miraculous.

One of the articles said the BMW driver and one of the passengers did go to the hospital for very minor injuries or evaluation. Two other passengers did not need to go. Truly astonishing. I would think the driver and parents were informed not to leave the area pending the investigation.

I accidentally ran over a squirrel and I felt bad for a few days. The kid ran over 3 human beings. How do you think he’s doing if he’s not a sociopath??

Well, no charges have been filed so presumably he's at home w/ Mom and Dad trying to process things and talking with the family lawyer and insurance company.

PP and one zip code over from crash. Yesterday was passing through early a.m. hours apart and both times saw Fairfax County police had pulled drivers over within 1/4 mile from accident site. Too little, too late but oddly reassuring.

Also think that in time the roadside memorial will need to be removed: concerned that it will become a distraction.

Or a reminder to slow down and pay attention.

On Friday. Two cops were Stationed at Flint Hill a mile away, but no law enforcement along Blake.
I watched a bunch of kids get off the bus along Blake and no one was around.

Hopefully charges are coming next week.

Friday was FH graduation and there were the normal police managing traffic in and out.

I live in the neighborhood and the cops have been doing traffic enforcement from early morning until late at night. They are paying their salaries if they are ticketing everyone they pull over. The sad part is they haven’t done significant enforcement since another pedestrian was hit a while back. They were out in force but haven’t been doing much since to address speeding since then.

Any word on how the third pedestrian is doing? We have been keeping her and their family in our thoughts.

Oh come on. Let's have an investigation by skilled people first.

Just now on NBC 4 news (Monday 6/13/22) there was a report saying the third girl, who is hospitalized in critical condition, is improving, according to her family (the mother's employer spoke on the family's behalf).

The girl in the hospital is the cousin of one of the two girls who died, which I had not heard before. So sad.

Thank you PP for the reminder to us all, about the injured girl.

So happy to hear this update about the third girl. I am so sorry for all emotional trauma she will have to process even if she fully heals physically.
