All of you adult drivers that have a lead foot, driving aggressively, running red lights on the roads of the DMV should know that you are teaching kids how to drive. They are watching you from the back seat, in boosters seats until teen years. Kids do as you do, not as you say. Drive like you want your kid to drive.
This BMW probably belongs to the parent - an aggressive driver. Why is it that every BMW driver drives like an A-hole? Where dud they learn it from? |
The poster is absolutely no being irrational. “My speed, while wrong” sounds exactly like the BMW driver. Dumb criminals slip up in their writings all the time. The classic is the Ramsey ransom note. |
You think there is just one person in all of northern Virginia who speeds? |
Before you folks have the FBI confiscating my servers, the poster discussing their speed was clearly referring to the times "a car trying to make left or right has come too far on the road, and could have easily clipped my car..." Please try to turn the temperature down a little on this thread. Eventually investigators will reveal what happened. |
I’ve seen my share of BMW’s broken down on Blake Lane too. About 2 years ago, I saw a BMW E90 struggling to go 10 mph with all the emergency flashers on. I’ve also seen brand new BMW’s stranded on I-495. Just yesterday, my Oakton neighbor was starting his BMW 5 series (same as this white car that killed 2 kids) and I was starting my Lexus LS. I started seeing black smoke coming out in front of my windshield. I panicked and got out of my Lexus to look directly at my exhaust pipes. Nothing. Perfection. Couldn’t even see clear smoke out of the Lexus.. Got back in my car and 3 seconds later the culprit of the thick black smoke was backing out of his driveway. BMW are pure garbage cars. Look at the pedestrian crash protection on the white BMW that killed the kids. The hood didn’t even pop up 1 inch (forget 5 inches). It just didn’t work. |
DP. Unless the BMW driver himself is a recent immigrant, it's not the driver. (This is not a dig at immigrants as I'm an immigrant myself). As part of my job a few years ago, I edited texts written by someone from the community I suspect the writer hails from for style and grammar. Someone stated up thread that the driver "isn't a rich, white kid." If that's correct, the highly defensive claims and the writing style make it plausible it's a a family friend or relative. |
That poster was describing similar experiences where they were speeding and a car stuck its nose in the intersection. |
| I was in a very similar car accident when I was a senior in HS. Luckily, no one was hurt. I was in the position of the Toyota and was hit while turning left. The car going straight was speeding and I misjudged how fast they would get to the intersection because it was so much quicker than I expected. I did not get a ticket because they were speeding. There is now a turning arrow at that intersection because it was a common accident type. |

Poster is on the FCPD Twitter spouting the same radar gun straw man, non-sense.
I don’t have the BMW telematic data either, but I have eyes. |
| When they finally decide on the charges, would they make an announcement, and if they do, where can we follow the updates? |
FCPD Facebook page or twitter. Also, they maintain this site: https://fcpdnews.wordpress.com/ |
DP— thanks for posting this. I see that from a previous accident that occurred 5/20, it took until 6/2 until charges were filed. So I’m guessing ~ 2 week timeframe to complete the investigation. Maybe longer since there were two vehicles and multiple fatalities? |
You sound unhinged. The BMW driver has much more serious problems than DCUM. I HIVHLY DOUBT HE IS ON HERE. |
|
Dumb question, but here goes: if I as a VA driver am drunk and kill 2 people while DUI, am I not immediately arrested and taken to jail and seen by a magistrate? Or if injured go to a hospital and then to jail?
I ask because in this awful Oakton case, the BMW driver stayed at the scene, was presumably questioned by police and then what? Went to the hospital to get checked out and then home to rest and recover? Where is he now? |
Drunk driving itself is a felony. Careless or reckless driving are not. Now if it turns out he was drunk, your questions have merit. If not, the comparison is faulty. Negligence takes longer to prove than inebriation and arresting someone starts a clock on charging them. |
