When are you going to stop wearing masks indoors (stores, etc)

I had to deal with some of you jerks refusing to wear masks even when they were "mandatory" in MoCo.

Not everyone talks about diabetes, or their chronic health condition, or their fragile parents or kids. That's why many of us are wearing masks.

Just make sure you’re at least wearing a surgical mask. The cloth mask isn’t doing anything, so if you’re wearing that you’re either dumb, a virtue signaler, or a dumb virtue signaler.

I think that’s a slight mischaracterization. Cloth isn’t effective over long periods, yes but for a short time, like shopping, it is fine, provided it fits well.

Then went to Whole Foods here yesterday (masks not required) and 99% of the people were wearing masks. I had back to back business meetings just before vacation. At one, in TN, there were no masks at all. Not at the hotel, in restaurants, in the meeting. In the other, in PA, we had to test to attend and be masked the whole day.

I’m ready to ditch the mask given the super low rates here, but the peer pressure is real.

+1. I wore mine grocery shopping this weekend because I didn't want to stick out, not because I think my cloth mask is doing anything. This was at Trader Joe's, and there were a handful of shoppers and employees not wearing one, so maybe it's slowly starting to change.

DH went to a different store and is less self-conscious than me and didn't wear one. In that case he said the only other person not wearing one was the store manager. He said other shoppers were staring at him the entire time, not necessarily an angry stare (as much as you could tell that with masks on, lol), more disbelief.

I’ve been the only one maskless a few times in NE DC grocery stores. No looks from anyone though. People just going on with their lives just as I am.

It's political theater. The more blue, or rather, the more progressive an area is, the more people are going to clutch into their masks. Places like Takoma Park will be the last to let go of masks.

Well this attempted swipe at progressives didn't age well ... TKPK has alreqady rescinded mask mandates

"Already" as in in today, March 9.

But yeah, I thought TP was going to try to keep them forever.

It aged just fine. They're not quite last but waiting until March 9 has them as an extreme outlier. The Oregon mandate ends March 11. Hawaii ends March 25.

to these posters ... you're missing the point

the original poster was CLEARLY trying to take a judgmental jab at progressives ... but their point fails, bc TKPK lifted their mask mandate within 48s hours .. so no, they are not "clutching their masks"

stop with the judgment! if pp want to wear mask, let me ... my body, my choice, right?

oh wait, that only applies to anti maskers, but not maskers or any females.

I really hate that we're going to end up with a stratified society where patrons don't wear a mask but the help will have to.

Is that what is happening? That makes me pretty uncomfortable. (On the other hand, we already do have a stratified society, masks just make the issue more visible.)

I don’t see that happening - the last time I was at Giant, a similar proportion of customers and employees were without masks.

So, cloth masks are “effective” in situations where it’s unlikely you’d be exposed to covid. Got it!

I saw mask less staff at the movie theater this weekend. Glad they have the option.

If you are still wearing a mask to stop virus transmission, why would you ever choose to wear the least effective option when better options are readily available? Dumb? Virtue signaling?

I’m wearing a mask until my little kid is vaccinated. I don’t think any of us will get that sick, but a positive test still means a mandatory 7 days out of preschool for unvaccinated kids and they test weekly at the preschool. I have already had two quarantines this school year and I cannot afford another one.
