Because teachers only live in some school board districts but not in others? That seems like a problem. |
Yes, segregation in Montgomery County is a problem for STUDENTS, but it's also not reasonable for teachers to expect to be able to afford million+ homes. Bethesda and Potomac schools have zero trouble retaining teachers, so really, it's not a problem for teachers. |
It's not that men aren't interested in running. Three men were on the ballot in 2020. But the candidates preferred by the voters happened to be women. https://elections.maryland.gov/elections/2020/results/general/gen_results_2020_4_by_county_160.html |
| Dr. McKnight and the Board of Ed should have prioritized the COVID response in the midst of an upswing in cases over vacations for school administrators. Their agenda shows how low on the totem pole of priorities are the well-being and education of students - many of whom experienced learning loss during the previous 18 months of online learning. Terrible planning and leadership of the school system. |

Why would anyone want to weaken the Apple ballot? Most of us vote the Apple ballot because they are the best candidates. |
Dr.McKnight is not a public health specialist and should not be responsible for deciding if schools need to close which should only occur if everything else (restaurants, bars, stores) is shut down. |
Si de nomine suo ore allore che schiavi mitti zutti terraza lei MCPS stoccata studente. |
You've gotta lay off of the Mommy's Little Helpers.. someone may think you're serious - the sarcasm is way too subtle. |
+ 1 - Dr. McKnight proposed keeping unvaccinated staff members. She proposed more half days for students. She even proposed 7 extra days off so administrative offices could close during a crisis for the school system at an estimated price tag of $850,000. Who approved Dr. McKnight’s ridiculous proposals? The Board of Education. Teaching students and filling in learning gaps created by 18 months of online learning is not Dr. McKnight’s and the Board’s priorities. They all got to go. |
Because behind the Apple Ballot is the Teacher's Union and they only care about the teachers. No one is looking out for students because the MCPS leadership and the Teacher's Union are in bed together. What organized group is really looking out for the students besides the local PTSAs? |
Most us support teachers and it sounds resent public education, teachers, and unions. |
There are a lot of wealthy cranks who hate their taxes funding public education and resent the idea that teachers organizing to be paid a living wage. |
Are MCPS teachers not currently being paid enough (make sure to take into account the benefits)? What salary scale would you recommend? |
If they were paid enough, there wouldn't be chronic teacher shortages. |
