Ideally, soon. Very soon. At the very least, I would expect him not to return to the school after Christmas Break. A smart man in his situation would not come back. Cut your losses and try to get a coaching job somewhere around Richmond, VA Beach or at a private school. Good riddance.

Alas, Overton is not a smart man so he will fight to keep is whopping 60K a year security guard salary for as long as he can as it is, sadly, the best he can do.

90k

Source? The Defender article said it was a shade below 60K.

Still a comically low figure for anyone qualified to hold a decent job. Unfortunately for Overton, he isn't qualified to hold a decent job.

90k, summers off, laid back, close to home, he’s a football coach who can build his football program through there.

Not bad for a coach.

You think 60K a year after taxes is “not bad”? I feel bad for you.

90k with summers off and his own business.

My god, these Overton supporters don’t even know what success looks like. Thinking 90k is something to brag about…how sad.

Nothing to brag about, but it’s not bad for a high school football coach.

Yes, it is. That you need this told to you speaks volumes.

What do you think public high school football coaches make?

To me, more relevant is what the ones that not only allowed all this but then have gone to lengths to cover up make- Reid salary posted a lot already on here, Asst Superintendent Michelle Boyd in 2023 was $212,641, Principal Thompson was $171,070 (all amounts 2023 from public records can find online). Then add all the $ Reid spent covering it up with smoke and mirror “investigations” and communications…..

Above all said, Fairfax Times did article on salaries in summer. By below links, football coaches usually get < $10k to coach, around $5k for basketball and Overton was making about $24k when left Freedom. And the security position at Hayfield was showing around $70k. If any truth to Freedom having enough of his using resources without paying, that alone would have been reason enough to leave, but a $50k kicker wouldn’t hurt.

Would be curious to see Monty Fritts 2024 salary after his texts saying he was in it for the $. For other years from the posted public records was:

2023-$129,598 Dir Student Activities
2022-$103,672 Asst Dir Student Act
2021-$89,780 Asst Dir Student Act

Are the $$$ not things like the Nike deal and stuff?

There's no free money from Nike to suburban public schools, LOL. The "Nike" deal probably meant the coaches would get free swag if the school placed their uniform order through Nike.

Huh? If a team is really good and Hayfield is, Nike or another athletic apparel company may give them $20000 to spend for the team, then after that 40% off apparel.

Nike deal is just a discount to purchase apparel from Nike. Nike does not sponsor amateur athletics.

Is AAU not "Amateur Athletics" (in theory at least)? If so, they sponsor an entire AAU League, the EYBL, and every team in it gets something along the lines of what the PP mentioned.

This was the same article that WTOP posted yesterday. Most alarming…

“Currently, staff are creating the criteria “the external law firm will have to be responsive to,” she said. Once that’s finished, that probe will begin.”

Um, no. This is why this investigation should be conducted at the State level (AG or Dept of Ed). Plus, we’ll never be able to access whatever evidence is gathered because FCPS is notorious for stonewalling FOIA requests.

The wording of how setting up investigation reads how the one in June was done that found no problems of any kind (despite everyone else seeing a house on fire). That first investigation was headed by Asst Superintendent Boyd. Sounding no difference to how this one will be managed. Ask the worthless quarries, get worthless answers.

They don’t know what they are talking about. The WCAC basketball teams get full sponsorship just like EYBL teams

Yes that's the exactly the problem - just a different employee who directly reports to Reid now doing yet another "investigation". What are the chances anything new or transparent will be found?

And this "external" investigation will have to adhere to certain criteria established by FCPS itself ONLY - criteria being established by REID HERSELF? What's criteria #1 - "investigator shall not be critical of anyone whose name rhymes with BEAD....?"

How is she getting away with this? She's hoping everybody is moving on after the holiday and playoffs are almost wrapped up - and seems to be just trying to run out the clock. And throws this softball interview with wtop/inside nova in attempt to kill this topic for good...

Where have you gone, Fairfax Times? - our nation turns its lonely eyes to you...

There is a school board meeting tomorrow night. On the agenda is the external investigation headed by Auditor General. Please show up to protest this. Please be willing to speak - it never works out when employees do.

The motion for it is interesting because it states that Reid violated a regulation - but the board is still listing the Auditor General the FCPS contact for the investigation. So what investigation is Reid referring to. Please be willing to speak - it never works out when employees do.

Nike is not an approved vendor. This scenario won’t happen. Next.

Criteria #2, no questions to or about Hayfield or anyone involved in the recruiting or prior investigation or anything else related to it, because VHSL already sanctioned them so nothing more needed for that.

I wonder if this is on Jason Miyares' radar?

Maybe email his office with the pertinent information?

Dunne’s motions are good if concerned with how Reid handled Hayfield situation. But he has uphill battle to get those through. The motions of others just say in effect to look at future to make sure no one else illegally recruits- no look back at Hayfield or at Reid.

I missed this yesterday. So many smiles in interview. Seriously, I am not sure she could have smiled more if someone had told her Hayfield just won the state championship. Did she forget being interviewed about having lost votes of confidence, only coming clean when texts leaked, illegal activity?
