Ideally, soon. Very soon. At the very least, I would expect him not to return to the school after Christmas Break. A smart man in his situation would not come back. Cut your losses and try to get a coaching job somewhere around Richmond, VA Beach or at a private school. Good riddance.

Alas, Overton is not a smart man so he will fight to keep is whopping 60K a year security guard salary for as long as he can as it is, sadly, the best he can do.

90k

Only if they brought him in at step nine or higher. You realize these job descriptions and payscales are all public information, right?

Overton has an army of folks who seem to like lying for him.

Don’t know why these nosey people are trying to count Overton’s money anyway.

What money? It's been pointed out multiple times that this guy makes less money than actual successful people (and also less than abject failures like Monty Fritts).

Does it make you feel better to know the guy is poor?

No, but it saddens me that your reading comprehension skills are poor.

Government employees, yes FCPS employees are government employees, salaries are public knowledge. This is done because taxpayers have a right to know where their money is being spent.

As for a public employee using government facilities for their financial gain, which I believe is what was alleged to have happened in PWC, this is called graft. A "normal" resident of the county would not be able to use school facilties for their financial benefit. Graft is illegal if it indeed took place

90k

Source? The Defender article said it was a shade below 60K.

Still a comically low figure for anyone qualified to hold a decent job. Unfortunately for Overton, he isn't qualified to hold a decent job.

90k, summers off, laid back, close to home, he’s a football coach who can build his football program through there.

Not bad for a coach.

You think 60K a year after taxes is “not bad”? I feel bad for you.

90k with summers off and his own business.

My god, these Overton supporters don’t even know what success looks like. Thinking 90k is something to brag about…how sad.

Nothing to brag about, but it’s not bad for a high school football coach.

Yes, it is. That you need this told to you speaks volumes.

What do you think public high school football coaches make?

To me, more relevant is what the ones that not only allowed all this but then have gone to lengths to cover up make- Reid salary posted a lot already on here, Asst Superintendent Michelle Boyd in 2023 was $212,641, Principal Thompson was $171,070 (all amounts 2023 from public records can find online). Then add all the $ Reid spent covering it up with smoke and mirror “investigations” and communications…..

Above all said, Fairfax Times did article on salaries in summer. By below links, football coaches usually get < $10k to coach, around $5k for basketball and Overton was making about $24k when left Freedom. And the security position at Hayfield was showing around $70k. If any truth to Freedom having enough of his using resources without paying, that alone would have been reason enough to leave, but a $50k kicker wouldn’t hurt.

Would be curious to see Monty Fritts 2024 salary after his texts saying he was in it for the $. For other years from the posted public records was:

2023-$129,598 Dir Student Activities
2022-$103,672 Asst Dir Student Act
2021-$89,780 Asst Dir Student Act

Are the $$$ not things like the Nike deal and stuff?

There's no free money from Nike to suburban public schools, LOL. The "Nike" deal probably meant the coaches would get free swag if the school placed their uniform order through Nike.

It wasn't alleged. It happened. He was fined for it multiple times.

Article in Inova is really hard to stomach. Reid’s new talking points sound great if have no prior knowledge of her actions. If know even a little, disingenuous and disgusting. If FCPS engages ANY of the law firms it has used before for the external investigation, further proof Reid just wasting more taxpayer $ - even worse if they use same counsel parents used. And nowhere is she being looked at or Asst Superintendent- focus again is on OTHER schools. Way to deflect.

By comparison the Dir of Student Services that Hayfield and FCPS says voluntarily transferred this past June, but papers had said some questioned if pushed out):

2023-$118.6k
2022-$110.7k
2021-$106.5k

This was the same article that WTOP posted yesterday. Most alarming…

“Currently, staff are creating the criteria “the external law firm will have to be responsive to,” she said. Once that’s finished, that probe will begin.”

Um, no. This is why this investigation should be conducted at the State level (AG or Dept of Ed). Plus, we’ll never be able to access whatever evidence is gathered because FCPS is notorious for stonewalling FOIA requests.

Huh? If a team is really good and Hayfield is, Nike or another athletic apparel company may give them $20000 to spend for the team, then after that 40% off apparel.

Nike deal is just a discount to purchase apparel from Nike. Nike does not sponsor amateur athletics.
