Ideally, soon. Very soon. At the very least, I would expect him not to return to the school after Christmas Break. A smart man in his situation would not come back. Cut your losses and try to get a coaching job somewhere around Richmond, VA Beach or at a private school. Good riddance.

Alas, Overton is not a smart man so he will fight to keep is whopping 60K a year security guard salary for as long as he can as it is, sadly, the best he can do.

90k

Source? The Defender article said it was a shade below 60K.

Still a comically low figure for anyone qualified to hold a decent job. Unfortunately for Overton, he isn't qualified to hold a decent job.

90k, summers off, laid back, close to home, he’s a football coach who can build his football program through there.

Not bad for a coach.

You think 60K a year after taxes is “not bad”? I feel bad for you.

90k with summers off and his own business.

My god, these Overton supporters don’t even know what success looks like. Thinking 90k is something to brag about…how sad.

Nothing to brag about, but it’s not bad for a high school football coach.

Yes, it is. That you need this told to you speaks volumes.

What do you think public high school football coaches make?

That you have to ask the question, and can't do the basic research on your own (or don't simply know) is really sad. But here goes - your average NoVa public school HS football coach, from a salary perspective, looks a lot like the guy Thompson fired to bring in the criminal Overton. Aziz was a full-time teacher with 15+ years of experience, meaning he is already making north of $90K just for teaching. Others look like Mike Dougherty who have over 20+ years of teaching experience, meaning he is already making north of $100K just for his day job. Others are administrators who are making $120K not including their stipend for coaching. They also likely doing something during the summer, be it teaching summer school, working camps etc. ... resulting in another 7-20K easy. So long and short, most NoVa public school coaches are north of $100K a year before coaching stipends. Those who aren't, like Overton, just aren't that bright.

Finally, there is no way Overton is netting 90K a year. If he is, I sure hope someone from the IRS is reading this thread. No way he is netting 30K+ from his little PMS football thing.

Does your kid play any sports? Have you ever paid for a privately run sports clinic or lesson? Based on my researching as much as possible to cheap out on private sports lessons for my kid, I can easily assume he's netting $30K even after keeping the lights on at his facility.

Do tell me more about his "facility."

What a clown show these Overton supporters are.

He doesn’t have his own facility. He illegally used county resources, i.e. Freedom High School fields while he was coaching there, without permission. He never rented the fields when he was there. He just assumed that it was his to use because he was the head football coach. So, it might be feasible that he does make $30k or more when charging each football player in his program $300. When you don’t have the overhead because you are running your business they way he runs his, you may make an extra $30k a year. Try doing things the right way. He may find, if he had integrity and ethical principles, he would make more and people would believe him.

What’s with the insults? You are talking about an accomplished kid that’s doing positive things and the fact that he’s already committed to a college that’s no easy to get into makes you look jealous.

What’s with the facts? You are talking about a cheater that’s cheated.

Its co-located with Hayfield HS.

To me, more relevant is what the ones that not only allowed all this but then have gone to lengths to cover up make- Reid salary posted a lot already on here, Asst Superintendent Michelle Boyd in 2023 was $212,641, Principal Thompson was $171,070 (all amounts 2023 from public records can find online). Then add all the $ Reid spent covering it up with smoke and mirror “investigations” and communications…..

Above all said, Fairfax Times did article on salaries in summer. By below links, football coaches usually get < $10k to coach, around $5k for basketball and Overton was making about $24k when left Freedom. And the security position at Hayfield was showing around $70k. If any truth to Freedom having enough of his using resources without paying, that alone would have been reason enough to leave, but a $50k kicker wouldn’t hurt.

"co-located" is a real fancy way of saying "illegal use of county property."

I sure hope FCPS comes down on Overton the same way PWC did. It is one of the reasons he left Freedom.

Playing against terrible competition doesn't do anything for your recruiting. It's really the opposite, kids transfer to fake private schools that get their heads kicked in every week because they think the film of the one good play they made in an 80-0 loss to IMG Academy will get them a scholarship.
