Like it or not, the restructuring of the area landscape coming this fall changes the debate on CCL's relevance/role in the regional soccer market.

No, it isn't relevant because at the younger ages finding a good coach is more important than the league.

Like it or not, the restructuring of the area landscape coming this fall changes the debate on CCL's relevance/role in the regional soccer market.

I guess I agree with that. Certainly BRYC and Loudoun's top players will be committed to the higher level teams so that, if they still field CCL teams, they won't be as competitive. Or, Loudoun's top players may not get to break into the FCV group, which leaves those players to decide to stay and maintain the quality of their CCL teams or to leave and another club benefits from those players. I'm not sure why Arlington is in this conversation since they are no longer in the DA picture, so those teams will still be good if all those players stay.

But, without knowing what clubs are still in CCL or what clubs get added to CCL, it's a little premature to compare to NCSL for next year. The major difference between the leagues (development vs promotion/relegation) should not change.

And this really is the decision of what you want to gain out of youth soccer. Do you want your player to become better and have opportunities to move on to play in college? I think CCL has that focus. Do you want your player to be on a team that focuses on winning and filling the trophy case so they have their glory days to look back on? I think that is NCSL.

Seems like the people that insisted on rules that made NCSL and WAGS onerous on clubs must be gone by now, and I think every single club and coach in the area by now has the message that you need to focus on development (or claim that you do) in order to attract players.

Completely agree. The talent and competitive level is here. Everyone should come together and figure out the best direction for the kids instead these separate leagues. Where does VYSA stand in this whole matter? Couldn't they mediate something between both leagues?

Because DA, ECNL and now Girls DA take the best players from all over, not just CCL.
