This +100.

Unfortunately, I don't see the Dems shedding themselves of the extreme left’s all-or-nothing approach to trans issues and trying to get rid of genders. No more so than I see the Republicans shedding themselves of the extreme right's all-or-nothing approach to abortion.

Extremism on both sides is what is ruining our society.

So, dyed-in-the-wool democrat…what is the Dem position on trans rights? We know what the MAGA policy is on abortion.

Largely their position is that when there is a legal conflict between trans rights and women’s rights, trans rights is more important. For instance, the right to safety, privacy, and dignity that Democrats typically espouse for female prisoners is less important than the right of trans women to be placed in women’s prisons. Etc. In any event, their general position is that women’s rights are less important than trans rights.

huh??

But I think Democrats will drive the party to the ground on this issue because admitting they are wrong is a bridge too far.

Typical response from Dems..."huh" -- the continue to be obtuse.

The “huh” is avoidance. That PP knows that take is correct, but because that’s the current position of the Democrats on trans issues, she has to pretend confusion. They have nowhere else to go other than pretending confusion.

um no, it’s because it makes no sense to me. All this hysteria that is.

Right, just like all those Republican congressmen and congresswomen that can’t wait to discuss all the issues with their constituents at town halls.

Please give me your take on this article: https://nypost.com/2025/06/26/us-news/gay-journalist-says-lgbtq-movement-has-gone-from-civil-rights-success-to-madness/

You don't find it odd that even a gay man agrees it has gone too far into radicalism?

They are not. But the Democrats have lost that perception as well, which is a significant loss of trust.

If scandal-plagued Cuomo had won, every major Dem official in America woulda instantly endorsed him.

Dems refusing to quickly endorse Mamdani - who has none of those scandals - is a tell about the party's priorities & who they still think they answer to.

I’m a moderate Democrat and I desperately want the party to embrace Mamdani even if many of his ideas are stupid. He is charismatic, a hard worker, and not 82. He isn’t insane or on drugs like Trump’s people. He isn’t corrupt like traditional Democratic leadership. I can deal with idea stupidity—Trump is our president. My bar is low now.

I am a life long Dem. To be very honest, I am against illegal immigration and against the trans agenda, meaning teaching kids about it and allowing kids to transition medically.

I actually would have said the same thing, until I read the article. I never heard any politician speak about the Trans issue on the campaign trail so I do think it was taken to a next level by Fox et al, but after reading Sullivan's article (I am the one who posted it in this chat) I see that it's an issue that is going on on the local level. It hasn't really popped for me as a parent of college students living in MoCo but I can see how it is affecting parents at the younger level. And, I do know several families with kids who are in the process of transitioning. They are supportive but at least 2 of them wonder if social contagion has played a role.
