There's a lot of that for sure. But the frequency and intensity of it does vary by school. In our experience it was the "booster" (alums and parents) of what were "non-obvious" choice schools for our family. Some of this was people sincerely believing these schools were a good match. Others were looking to build stronger teams on which their sons would play. Alums, of course, are interested in the success of their alma mater. Both St Albans and Landon were promoted as great places for our boys. We were encouraged to visit and meet the coaches. It was even suggested that they had already discussed our sons with these coaches and that they were "interested". So, they would already know who our sons were if and when we did make contact. This, of course, is perfectly legal under IAC rules. There's actually only one rule and that's the school can't make "first contact". But after that occurs, there are no rules. Because the coaches and schools aren't handing out a limited number of scholarships like colleges, every applicant is potential good news for them. |
| Gilman at SJC this afternoon for a scrimmage. Will be interesting to hear how that goes. |
|
End of 3 when starters out...
Landon 5 Mcdonogh 2 |
Not really. SJC doesn't try to win scrimmages. |
Landon subbed out after 2. McD after 3. |
| Does anyone know the result of Spalding v. DeMatha? |
Correction: Landon played 1 shift with starting mids at beginning of 3rd and they substituted heavily after that. |
|
McDonogh looked pretty ordinary.Landon looked pretty average too. The Bears were the better team but that is nothing to ride home about. Landon didn’t win a single face off.
I don’t see McDonogh making the miaa playoffs this year. They have little threats on offense. Could be a long season for the Eagles in Baltimore. New coach better figure it out fast. |
| GP blew out Boys Latin in their scrimmage and SJC dominated Gilman. I guess Calvert Hall, Spaulding and perhaps Severn. |
|
Bullis vs Heights
Bullis 14 - Heights 2 through 3 qtrs. Bullis at McDonogh on Friday for the last scrimmage. |
Slim chance they do not finish in the top 6 in the MIAA. Severn, Gilman, John Carroll, MSJ, or St Marys would have to jump them assuming St Pauls and Loyola make it. But I guess they could lose to a couple of those bottom 5 and be on the outs. They will really need to capitalize off of their fogo…sounds like they did not today against Landon. |
|
Spalding and Calvert Hall are the teams to beat in Baltimore.
St Paul’s and BL will be looking to act as spoilers. Loyola, St Mary’s and Severn will round up the middle tier. McDonogh, Gilman, MSJ and John Carroll will round up the rear. |
The Heights is all hype. |
Severn lol. Only beat MSJ and JC last year. |
|
Severn brings back their entire team from last year an had a first year coach at the helm.
They will be very competitive this year |
