How do you go from winning the ship last year to getting crushed by an average Landon squad?

FOGO is out until the regular season. Had kids who had never faced off before in pre season. Did not win a single face off against Landon yesterday. Probably possessed the ball for 2-4 minutes out of 48. They will have to win a high % of face offs once the season starts to stay competitive

Even when DeMatha had the ball on offense it looked out of sync and rough. Fogo will help but will not cure their problem.

Looks like Dematha plays Calvert Hall Friday.

Dematha +15 should make it interesting.

Who runs the WCAC and IAC and MAAC conference web sites? The MAAC has some games posted for the season but the others are awful. GP looks like they went in there and updated but no one else. The WCAC has no information? No contact information listed either. These schools have dozens of people standing on the sideline during a game but can't get anyone to input a schedule.

Spalding won big, caveat being DM FOGO was out and I’m not sure they won a single face off. Spalding and CH look like they are a cut above everyone else in the area this year. Spalding scrimmaged a very good GC team as well and bet them pretty badly.

They won a lot of faceoffs, and then lost the ball with in 3-5 seconds. DeMatha has taken 3 major steps backwards, and the coaches were not making any adjustments. Spalding's coaches never stopped talking DeMatha never started. It will be a long year for them. No offense, poor defense from the midfield, inability to clear and no coaching tends to lead to missing the playoffs.

(Yes, scrimmages matter)

1. SJC - STAB isn't a DC area team
2. PVI - manhandles the early season
3. GP - room to move up
4. Landon - we hear you about the fogo
5. GC - Spaulding, yeesh
6. Bullis - dark horse
7. GZ - not done yet
8. STA - missing players but coming together
9. Episcopal - have some good transfers
10. DeMatha - still have a couple pieces
HM
Heights - loss of wppoy seems to have really, really hurt
Publics - Langley, Yorktown, Robo. Someone will reveal themselves

PVI historically is firing on all cylinders in the early part of the season and generally fades after March.

Until someone from the IAC beats Landon, it's hard to rank a team ahead of the Bears.

Give Hilgy another year or two to get his "players" in at GP, and the Lil Hoyas will be on Culver's level with the nationwide recruiting for its dorm. Local Catholic families are already looking elsewhere.

Don't count out the DeMatha Stags this season. Sure they graduated a ton in 2024, but they are well coached, always scrappy, and won't go down easily

I'll take Gonzaga over Good Counsel any day, the Purple Eagles are better coached. The Eagles might not have the talent this year as they have had in past years, but I'll give them the mental edge.

PVI this year will be like last year's DM squad. Years of being close ending with a break through in a down year for the league, likely over Good Counsel. They can surge in May and finish it this time. The parents will lead the conference in sacks of vinegar and water. SJC has hype machine and D1 commits who will not see the field at the next level. They are good enough to win this year, but they will likely come up short. Big Tasty isn't there. If they win it will be by default. Gonzaga's coach's mom is the only one who would take him over GC coach. A lot of advantages without the payoff in the end. If God wears purple, its because he doesn't want to cheer for the Commanders. The Heights will Hurdle DM. But admittedly, that is not a high hurdle. SMR had its one year run and now it will cycle back down again. The good returning players opted to not return. That bespeaks a bad culture. DM will struggle against even the publics that they put on their roster. Outside of the FOGO there are no bright spots, and he doesn't even seem to be playing. The problem isn't the depth, its the starters.

The "Average Landon Squad" is is likely the cream of the IAC, for now. GP is building; but they are not there yet. Bullis can beat either of them, but they are also easily able to lose..

If they lost to Landon by 15. They will be lucky to be that close to the Hall at halftime.

Bullis handling GC by 4 followed by a ranking with GC at 2nd in the WCAC. Seems like a troll.

8-6 GC
9-6 PVI

Conference less deep this year. 4-7 was much stronger last year. Wouldn’t be surprised to see PVI win the whole thing.

I just looked at the St. John’s roster on some recruiting service and it appears they have 20 D1 or D3 commits in their 2026 and 2027 classes, the vast majority of which are D1. Plus I know they have some stud 2028s who will probably see time this spring. They have JV players who would probably make all state in Virginia or Maryland publics. .How can anyone compete with that?
