It needs to be made crystal clear where the breakdown in communication and leadership happened. Who knew of the many complaints and when? Does the process really allow for the superintendent and board to be uninformed if there are complaints, if that is what they seem to be suggesting happened? Who knew of the complaints and was complicit in still furthering this man's career? At some point people need to be fired - you cannot reform such a lack of empathy and leadership, especially in a f'in PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM.

Councilmembers repeatedly requested that the full Jackson Lewis report be released in a redacted version. No indication if this will happen.

I think what is clear from today's meeting is that McKnight is not particularly great. I certainly didn't feel she inspired any confidence in MCPS. But there is no appetite among the BOE to replace her nor among councilmembers to push for her replacement.

They are afraid she'll sue and accuse them of racism.

They all waived around that Jackson Lewis footnote saying that they couldn’t find the emails to exonerate the superintendent and the board. Now we find out that any emails received in May 2022 couldn’t be found because they were all deleted. That tells you everything that you need to know about the integrity of the BOE and the superintendent. The State BOE should remove them all.

They didn’t find emails but they knew he was under investigation from the social studies teacher filing in February. So why do the emails even matter?
