Nine South Koreans who tested positive for coronavirus visited Israel

Israel's Ministry of Health confirmed that nine South Koreans who tested positive for coronavirus were in Israel February 8-15. The ministry is working on tracking their movements so they can isolate individuals who came in close contact with the group.

The Health Ministry released the group's schedule so citizens can check if they were in contact with the group. The group visited the city of Caesarea, Masada, Mount Olives, Mount Zion, the national park in Beersheba, as well as several churches and other places.

As a result of this incident, as well the the growing number of cases of the coronavirus in South Korea, the Administration of Border Crossings, Population and Immigration has barred entry to tourist coming from Seoul through Ben-Gurion Airport who are supposed to arrive tonight. Israelis who are on the flight will be asked t follow the directions of the ministry of health. This is not yet a comprehensive ban that would include all South Korean nationals.

Yes, flights from China are still coming into the US, to the 11 airports allowed. Dulles is one of them.

Flights are from other parts of China not directly from Wuhan, though that hardly matters. Flights from other Asian countries and European and Middle Eastern coming in normally as well.

I know someone that flew into JFK, stayed in a hotel then took the Amtrak here before voluntary self quarantine with their family. This was what they had to do because they live here. It would have been out if their budget to hole up in a hotel in NYC for 2 weeks out of pocket.
So it’s pretty safe to say this is not uncommon.

Stopping the spread here is impossible. The CDC guidelines are, as usual, more focused on economics rather than safety. It’s been this way for the past 10-15 years.

So how exactly China is trying to contain it ? By keeping open borders and letting people travel?

Dude, if this was the case wouldn’t we hear it from billion people working there by now?

Nurses in the ICU report no one is coming to relieve their shift.

The hospital staff wrote an urgent letter to the health director of the Codogno hospital: «We report our direct contact in recent days with doctors who have tested positive for tests carried out for the search for coronavirus. After learning that the quarantine precautionary measure has been prepared for the ward doctors. We also report that almost all of our nurse colleagues have telephoned to report the unavailability to be present in the ward in the next few days, thus opening up obvious problems of continuity of care ». In fact, the nurses did not receive the change last night after the shift from 2 to 10 pm. At this moment the teams, coordinated by a ward doctor, are in the third uninterrupted shift. «No one showed up tonight to change us and we will be forced to take a 16-hour shift. And this morning ditto. We have been here yesterday at 2 pm without having certain answers and still having to provide for the assistance needs of the ward ». Doctors and nurses are guaranteeing treatment and assistance and hospitalized patients but they are in absolute isolation: «We cannot leave the hospital, teams of nurses are needed to guarantee the possibility of treatment for hospitalized patients. The results of our tests are not yet there. It's an emergency. "

I’m Italian and unfortunately Italian healthcare is terrible. My uncle keeps getting sick when he goes over and winds up in the hospital but they don’t actually do any treatment. He won’t be going anymore because his problems have a chance of arising anytime and his wife doesn’t think he will make it over there.

That's why I asked. Friend of a friend who works at NIH swears there's a case there and is surprised it hasn't been reported.

In addition, a sympotomatic person who had been in contact with the case in Piedmont is under investigation in Umbria.
