Honestly most of Landon’s recruiting is done by current Landon dads encouraging other dads from their kids club teams to come to Landon. That’s actually how most of the players that don’t have a previous connection to Landon end up there. |
| What school wouldn't do it that way? |
Is this suppose to be an accomplishment? |
Landon doesn’t recruit that many players that start at the school in 9th grade. Some, but not a lot. What they have done forever is develop the athletes they have into lacrosse players starting in 4th grade. It’s essentially a captive lacrosse academy. But the Landon alumni and parent group does try to interest good athletes from the neighborhood or youth teams in the school. Athletics are important there and the boosters want to see their teams be successful. |

Landon has the best coaching staff in the area
Until someone beats them in the IAC this Spring, they will remain the team to beat. and hopefully, this Spring, we can see one extra game added to the season that matches the WCAC champion against the IAC champion. |
| Does anybody know the score of the Good council vs calvert hall scrimmage? |
Yes. Much like preseason NFL football games or spring training game, the score was meaningless. It was as scrimmage and pointless to take anything away from it. |
| Fair |
I'm pretty certain this is how most schools operate. Current parents at a particular school can exemplify or detract from a prospective family's decision to explore or contact the coach. |
So GC got beat starters v starters. |
There's a lot of that for sure. But the frequency and intensity of it does vary by school. In our experience it was the "booster" (alums and parents) of what were "non-obvious" choice schools for our family. Some of this was people sincerely believing these schools were a good match. Others were looking to build stronger teams on which their sons would play. Alums, of course, are interested in the success of their alma mater. Both St Albans and Landon were promoted as great places for our boys. We were encouraged to visit and meet the coaches. It was even suggested that they had already discussed our sons with these coaches and that they were "interested". So, they would already know who our sons were if and when we did make contact. This, of course, is perfectly legal under IAC rules. There's actually only one rule and that's the school can't make "first contact". But after that occurs, there are no rules. Because the coaches and schools aren't handing out a limited number of scholarships like colleges, every applicant is potential good news for them. |
| Gilman at SJC this afternoon for a scrimmage. Will be interesting to hear how that goes. |
|
End of 3 when starters out...
Landon 5 Mcdonogh 2 |
Not really. SJC doesn't try to win scrimmages. |
Landon subbed out after 2. McD after 3. |
