I am a constituent who has posted in this thread and I did, in fact, post in a big thread about her here when she ran for re-election. It's not astroturfing to have the nerve to post a different opinion than the one you hold about a politician, although I see that the pro-JLG comments calling everyone who isn't impressed with her a MAGAt or cop plant seem to pass muster in your review.

This is the JLG folks go-to move. If you disagree with them on anything, then you must be MAGA. JLG would be a terrible mayor. She's an extremist, she's incapable of compromise, she's prickly and condescending and she's has no experience running large organizations. Someone else needs to step up.

Oh, are you posting all the generic sounding anti-JLG posts too? If there's one neighbor then all posts are neighbors?

Good luck with... Kenyan McDuffie? I'm sure you'll get what you're looking for with him.

It would be great if we could get a fresh face. It gets old with the same people over and over and over. Bowser has been in office for a decade. JLG has been on the city council for half that time. McDuffie has been around forever too. Isn't there anyone new? I'm tired of the status quo politicians. It's time for a change.

There’s a lot of moderate Republicans you should check out.

Hey remember when the DC council, led by JLG, passed legislation in 2022 that reduced penalties for crimes like carjacking, robberies and murder? Even though we were in the middle of a crime wave? And when Bowser vetoed the legislation because it was so criminal friendly, then the city council overrode her? And remember how the legislation was so embarrassing to Democrats that President Biden and Democrats in Congress stepped in and overturned JLG's legislation?

Mamdani had a bunch of of very specific things going for him that will be difficult if not impossible to replicate in DC:

— a truly awful opponent who made things a lot easier for him.

— a huge bloc of very online, mostly white transplants who were dying to support someone like him. The size of this group in DC is not big enough — and doesn’t care enough — to swing an election, no matter what they tell you on that one subreddit where you’re not allowed to talk about crime.

— charisma and media savvy. JLG is *extremely* lacking in that department.

— a blank-slate history. JLG already has a nickname — Catch-and-Release Janeece — the will be used to devastating effect by anyone who runs against her. And she will struggle to argue that she doesn’t deserve that nickname, because her actions on the Council and on social media suggest she truly believes tha stuff.

She is part of the problem. DC will get worst under her.

The budget for Washington, D.C. is drafted by the Mayor, who submits the proposed budget to the Council of the District of Columbia. The Council then reviews, holds hearings, and may modify the budget before approving it.

Comrade, I have no recollection of these events and neither do you.

Bowser is a weak mayor. Always has been. DC is run by the city council.

Allow me to refresh your memory, including when JLG said it was racist for Biden and congressional Democrats to overturn her law easing criminal penalties for murder:

I was just correcting the poster that seems to believe the council members have no control over the budget.

Right, so the Council drafts the DC budget.

The poster who responded to all the posts about JLG’s horrendous record on crime by blithely dismissing it all with comments “the council has nothing to do with law and order” (completely wrong, by the way) gives me such a sinking feeling. We’re doomed.
