What exactly are you insinuating with this remark? Please, explain. We'll wait.

I’m a JLG fan but agree. The way they handled crime bills early on really bad. She’s no Mamdani she does not have the deft and skills.

i wish Henderson would run. I don’t know if she’s any better, but I think she could thread the needle between the business guy and JLG.

Henderson is probably the best of the potential options, but the word is that she has her sights on Mendelson's job.

With that being said, why is Trump a measure or factor into ones ability to lead the city? It's nothing anyone could possibly do to go against him so I see this as a non factor.

Because if the mayor pushes it then the city gets taken over. Or we get more troops. Or the troops never leave. Or Trump declares martial law. Etc etc etc. the mayor has to manage interactions with the President and Congress so the city can remain autonomous.

A friend of mine hosted a large fundraiser for JLG when she was running for Ward 4 and she didn't show up. She told my friend that something came up. Needless to say, now she wants to connect with this person b/c she is running for Mayor. My friend is like - no way!

She strikes me as smart, down-to-earth, and well-intentioned. She is not a polished political operator, but seems to have a good sense of the issues many of us have with how DC is currently being run. I'm not worried that she will hire cronies, but I worry that she may not be tough enough to hold the people who work for her to account. I'd like to ask her how many people she has fired in her career and why.

What's wrong with having a business guy as mayor. People forget that businesses pay a lot of money in taxes. I employ a lot of people here. We could just as easily move to VA or MD and it would be much cheaper. I also live in the city. I want great city services. It should be really easy to open businesses here. It's not. It's really hard. Why are we so business unfriendly?

I know people complained when the city stopped rental assistance and the moratorium on people not paying rent. Well, most of the folks who own rental houses and small apartment buildings need you to get out if you can't pay. I'm sorry but personally, I need to pay my mortgage. We can't help everyone. We don't have the money.

I used to run the DC school buses. Trust me when I tell you, there are a lot of trifling people and parents in this city.

Business friendly city = where the business owners can pay $8 per hour and commit endless wage theft and throw temper tantrums when the local government tries to make it easier and safer for non drivers to get around town. No thanks.

I am worried that she will hire cronies and that those cronies may not be as balanced and well-intentioned as she seems to be. Already there are people tweeting statements and photos from her events to "divest from cops", "purse reparations" etc.

JLG is an inflexible, unlikeable ideologue who is bad with people and incapable of compromise. She would be a disaster as mayor.

Bowser would be like, "miss me yet?"

There's nothing remotely balanced as JLG. She ran on defunding the police and a million other crackpot positions.

I have no problem with the troops being here. Not sure why any abiding citizen would either.

Then it's even more concerning. That means she and those cronies won't even pretend to represent everyone. The issues are critical - crime and police, youth violence and consequences, housing and development, education including public schools and public charter.
