| I’m a ward 4 resident. I voted for her because I really didnt like Brandon Todd but now I just don’t get the hype? I’m on a WhatsApp group of a lot of Petworth folks and people are so excited. I just don’t get it? What’s the appeal? Do folks really think she’s going to be any better than Bowser? Or is the bar so low? |
|
I think a lot of the excitement is that she is a grassroots politician in contrast to the usual developer-owned candidates.
|
| I don’t care for her and I’ve been a Ward 4 resident my entire life. I’ve complained about the Walmart on the Ave. but yet nothing has changed. She supports violence interrupters when they have sketchy backgrounds that come to light as if they reduce crime. She wanted to defund the police, she had more support for undocumented workers than she does for her constituents. I’ve complained about a neighbor running an illegal repair shot out of his driveway leaving abandon cars all over the neighborhood yet nothing is done about it. I can go on and on but I’m supporting anyone who runs against her. I even voted for Lisa Gore but yet here we are still. |
| What exactly have you complained about with respect to the Wal Mart? |
The vending, trash, the parking when there are signs that say no parking. It makes Ga.Ave one lane most times. Doesn’t allow for car services to pick up customers without blocking the lanes because folks park and shop. |
I’m the OP. I would assume the drug dealing and violence? Similarly, I’ve reported my drug dealing neighbor a million times to MPD and JLG’s office and nothing has happened. And the defund the police nonsense really made me angry. |
You just listed a whole bunch of things that the mayor and her offices are supposed to fix. And then you hold the lack of progress against the councilmember? She can try to facilitate changes, but really the council role is to pass laws, pass budgets, and oversee what the mayor does. But trying to oversee something into action isn't a thing. |
MPD (who can do something about it) works for the mayor. What did you think a councilmember can do about it other than harass MPD? Then you'll complain that she's harassing MPD??? |
If you think cars should be banned in D.C. and that people who make $100,000 are rich and that the police department should be closed and replaced by violence interrupters and if you think charter schools are evil, you're probably excited about Janeese Lewis-George. She's like Sarah Palin or people like that. She appeals to the party's base by throwing them lots of red meat. If you oppose her, she says you're MAGA. I guess some people like that. |
So she shouldn’t care because she’s not the Mayor? She could protest about better services for her constituents instead of defund the police efforts. |
A driver whining about irrelevant things. Film at 11. |
#bancars I'm voting for Janeese |
Spot-on take in the other thread said JLG’s core constituency is excitable white people who just moved north of U St since the pandemic. So basically all of petworth/brightwood/16th St Heights. |
| This is a nightmare scenario. Unless you’re a sanctimonious white socialist |
Try again, loser. I've lived in Ward 4 since 2012 and I can't wait to vote for JLG. You're gonna at shot when she's elected mayor. |
