You wish. Philip displayed his commitment to duty by playing the role of tolerant grandfather to the unwise choice his grandson made.

Sophie is very close to the Queen and Philip, and Anne assumed many of his riyal duties and patronage’s when he retired He and the Queen are close to the Middletons, and Kate has the grandchild card.

Straight up fanfiction. They are not close at all. Doubt he really knew Meghan.

Died on 9th of April, at 9 pm, 99th day of the year, at age 99

Add his age when he married and the years he was married to the Queen and it adds up to 99.

Coincidence?

99
9+9 = 18
1+8 = 9

Philip doesn't have any surviving members from his Greece family?

Nope

Not true - at all.

His uncle was King of Greece and desposed. The entire Greek royal family lives in the U.S. and would have been included in a normal ceremony. Nothing would have stopped Marie-Chantal from showing up in royal finery.

In addition Phillip had 18 nieces and nephews born of his three sisters. 5 of the nephews and 1 niece is still alive. On top of all the grand-nephews and nieces who are in their 40s, 50s, and 60s.

Deposed Crown Prince and Princess of Greece at William + Kate's wedding

What's with the headdress???

Good God,,,, poor woman

PS This comment was about the other lady, not the Queen.

“Poor woman” is the very last thing that should ever be said about Marie Chantal. In any sense of the word.

Financially well to do famous people will always have my pity if forced by some outdated. ridiculous rules of court to wear a chicken coop on their heads, outh of all ways.. ACROSS their heads like mohowk. Wrong. ugly. impractilal in high winds and outerly ridiculous piece of pre war fashion machinery.

Princess Di dithed those insane head coverings and displayed class and style through her fashion. There is no single piece of accessory that royals wear then screams "kitsch" louder.

Queen is the only person that understand that hat is not an opportunity to experiment, Classic modest piece work for her but those other women.. do they own mirrors? One wonders.

I'm a pretty conservative dresser, but I love the crazy hats and fascinators. The crazier, the better. They can also be sartorial works of art, little bits of architecture. It's just so fun.

The only time Americans wear them are at the famous horse races like the Kentucky Derby or Preakness. I could take them or leave them personally. When done well - they elevate the outfit. Too many times women however go too far into the ridiculous - the royals included.

Well. that is a rule for the general populus who often needs time to secure black wardrobe in case of unexpected passing of a family member. Otherwise even if optional pre funeral it represents level of grief. as a mourner seek comfort in wearing color absent black clothing ( no, black is not a color).

There is some sugestion of some statement with this particular choice of outfit for Prince Charls, makes you wonder, that's all.

BT.. did he wear an arm band at the minimum?

People are reading too much into Charles' clothing choices. He's fine. For all his faults, he has always behaved properly in public. He is in a good place in life, happy to be growing old with Camilla, and whatever pain his father inflicted on him with respect to schooling or Diana or anything else was a long time ago. Moreover, I can't imagine he would insult the Queen by choosing clothing that was improper in the eyes of the family.

He looked great in that blue suit and pale pink shirt, and his comments about his dad were heartfelt and respectful.

I will never understand their choices there. Beatrice looks like she's wearing a bad costume wig she hastily put up in a ponytail and Eugenie looks like she's wearing a toilet seat on her head.

I remember reading at the time of that wedding that Bea's hat was an inside joke between her and William. If true, that's fantastic.

Funny, the direct quotes said the two of them were extremely upset at the reception of their hats and hurt at being mocked around the world.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie Cried Over Backlash for Their Royal Wedding Hats

"There was a horrible article that had been written about Beatrice and she got really upset," Princess Eugenie said in a recent interview, recalling their infamous fascinators.

"We were just about to step out and she had a bit of a wobble and cried," she added, per Cosmopolitan. "I was looking after her. And then about an hour later, I had a wobble and started crying and Bea was there for me."

I am surprised by this as well. It seems borderline disrespectful.

He has a large family. I don't think it's disrespectful given that they were likely not close.

I'll be highly amused if they had Boris step down, so Penny could step in.

Did your father’s girlfriends come to his funeral?

Then why would you suppose that the Countess Mountbatten of Burma and Steward of Wormsley Hall would attend Prince Philip’s funeral?

My grandfather’s girlfriend did not.

But he wasn’t dating his grand-niece in-law. The Countess’ estranged husband is the head of the Mountbatten family. I guess he could show up without her though.

Your grandmother must have been relieved that your grandfather's girlfriend did not come to the wedding. They said their good byes in private as they conducted their affair.

Why do you not think Prince Philip would do the same with Mrs. Wormsley?

Because as we all know - she's both family and the affair. I'm just curious if the royals are inviting any of Phillip's family who aren't his direct descendants to the funeral. In which case it would either be the father's side (Greek royals) or mother's side (Mountbatten).

According to Britain's caste system the head of the family would be invited unless there's a medical complication. And I assure you Lord Knatchbull is about as healthy as Charles and able to attend.

Lots of stuff coming out. Better than a telenovela.

Even the DM is writing about her.

Let me just clarify something. They were installed as royals in Greece, they did not have an ounce of Greek blood. Greek Parliament approved the appointment of the Danish Prince, but it was the great powers that really did all of this. There is Russian blood as King George I/ Prince William of Denmark married Grand Dutchess Olga Konstantinova.
Let us make sure we know what this was, great powers ensuring influence over Greece.

Seems defiant. Black full-wear like his siblings in the official 8 days of mourning. Black armbands in the full 30 (now 15 because...who knows)

They don’t want to honor the full 30 days of mourning because it would overlap with William and Kate’s anniversary and Charlotte’s birthday. Yes, really. William is that self absorbed.

I know. I wonder what they intend to do for the anniversary 7 days after the official mourning period has cut off. Its not like they can have a wild celebration anyway.

They had a bunch of events planned. It was definitely designed to pivot attention back to William and away from Harry. He must be so annoyed to be overshadowed by yet another member of his family.

Planned like what?

As far as I remember Charles and Camilla did nothing (publicly) to recognize their 10th anniversary.

William is not Charles.

Also, at Charles and Camilla’s 10 year anniversary there was still public resentment because of lingering loyalty to Diana. They were trying to fly under the radar. Kate always helped boost William’s popularity.
