Philip doesn't have any surviving members from his Greece family?

Nope

Not true - at all.

His uncle was King of Greece and desposed. The entire Greek royal family lives in the U.S. and would have been included in a normal ceremony. Nothing would have stopped Marie-Chantal from showing up in royal finery.

In addition Phillip had 18 nieces and nephews born of his three sisters. 5 of the nephews and 1 niece is still alive. On top of all the grand-nephews and nieces who are in their 40s, 50s, and 60s.

Deposed Crown Prince and Princess of Greece at William + Kate's wedding

What's with the headdress???

Good God,,,, poor woman

PS This comment was about the other lady, not the Queen.

“Poor woman” is the very last thing that should ever be said about Marie Chantal. In any sense of the word.

Financially well to do famous people will always have my pity if forced by some outdated. ridiculous rules of court to wear a chicken coop on their heads, outh of all ways.. ACROSS their heads like mohowk. Wrong. ugly. impractilal in high winds and outerly ridiculous piece of pre war fashion machinery.

Princess Di dithed those insane head coverings and displayed class and style through her fashion. There is no single piece of accessory that royals wear then screams "kitsch" louder.

Queen is the only person that understand that hat is not an opportunity to experiment, Classic modest piece work for her but those other women.. do they own mirrors? One wonders.

What does this unintelligible garble have to do with Philip?

that is de rigor.
Black tie or armband while mourning
Black suit for funerals.
Really, people catch up now.

Well. that is a rule for the general populus who often needs time to secure black wardrobe in case of unexpected passing of a family member. Otherwise even if optional pre funeral it represents level of grief. as a mourner seek comfort in wearing color absent black clothing ( no, black is not a color).

There is some sugestion of some statement with this particular choice of outfit for Prince Charls, makes you wonder, that's all.

BT.. did he wear an arm band at the minimum?

Meghan stans being delusional as usual.

That was just someone being vile and hateful. Meghan isn't going, she's in her third trimester, and she hardly knew Phillip.

And she was not invited. Charles saw to that

You people are weird. You don’t want her invited but you want her to come. Pick a lane.

They HAVE picked a lane. Whatever Meghan does or doesn’t do is wrong, and they’ll twist themselves into knots with whatever arguments they come up with, all the while asserting how non-racist they are in their often bizarre judgements.

If Meghan had gone, she would have been seen by the harpy’s as pushing herself into the family when she wasn’t wanted, angling for publicity at the most inappropriate of times, and risking her pregnancy following a miscarriage with a 10+ hour flight during a pandemic.

My guess is that she had a positive, though distant relationship with Philip, she is supporting her husband in ways that work for both of them, and she is avoiding the risk that her presence will be a distraction in a volatile situation— when Harry has things he needs to address with William and Charles.

She's also avoiding the risk to her baby and herself post-miscarriage. Not to mention staying at home with her 2-year-old while the father is traveling. Not that this would satisfy any of the nutcases.

TBH don’t care if Meghan attends the funeral. Worth noting that she did fly from London to NY for her baby shower well into her third trimester with Archie. First trimester miscarriages are common, especially at her age, and are overwhelmingly due to chromosomal issues in the embryo, not anything that would be caused or avoided by normal travel. I’m not saying she should go this pregnant, only that she’s traveled late in pregnancy before, and is more likely than not fully vaccinated. She probably can’t face the family she trashed only a month ago on Oprah. At least there will be less drama and tension while the family mourns.

Trip safety aside, Meghan presence would take so much oxygen from the memorial fire burning for Prince Phillip;

This is his last hurray and las goodbye so all hearts, minds and eyes should be on him.

This is NOT ABOUT MEGHAN, don't make it about Meghan,

Why does Charles always give the impression that he can't be bothered? Any statement he gives sounds like, "bloody hell, how fast can I escape and how many words can I bypass and mince?
I thought it was all of them, but watched Anne and she seems eloquent and not mumbling.
Your dad died, you can at least look straight when giving your speech about it.

Yes, it’s better that she doesn’t go for the reasons you listed. The funeral should be about Philip. But discussing whether her reason for not attending is legitimate or not does not make it “about Meghan.”

That's all that is needed to know for this thread. Go to your toxic home base to stew on this further, invent reasons why, use the B-word in reference to a biracial woman, etc. The rest of us don't need to read your nastiness.

Oh please. This is just her excuse to remove herself from the situation. They could send her in a private plane and shelter her from being exposed. For goodness sake, she doesn’t even have to be at the funeral... just go to England to shore support and hole up in one of their castles.

I call BS.

Also, love how she’s sending Harry back in to the fray alone to bear the awkwardness he must feel around his family right now. She’s a selfish B.

She’s also for sure vaccinated. Normally I’d say third trimester travel should be avoided, that’s what my OB practice says as well, but to your point... they’re part of the royal family and would have access to private planes and the best medical care if needed. It seems like a bit of BS.

Ok.

I thought pregnant females are advised not to take any of the vaccines.

You are incorrect. ACOG guidelines are that the vaccines should not be withheld from pregnant women and the vast majority of OB/GYNs are encouraging their patients to get it (with perhaps some debate for the first trimester).

Even if she did do that it would be incredibly irresponsible to make that type of trip that pregnant during a pandemic. Even if she has gotten the vaccine (can’t remember if she has or not) she could still contract coronavirus and who knows how that can impact the pregnancy.

Ha! Meghan wasn't there long enough to form a relationship.

True. But I think he found Kate vacuous and stupid. Meghan was interesting and intelligent.

And if she flies in a private jet to avoid Covid, like a PP suggested, they'll criticize her for 1) the environmental impact, or 2) being too demanding to fly commercial, or 3) being a mooch for using a plane offered by a friend.
