Since they wouldn't post the receipts, we can't know the context. But having racism be part of the sympathy tour was essential, so it had to be in there even if it was not very specific. Hard to see the Queen or even Charles making such comments, more likely nasty courtiers is my guess.

Exactly . It could have been perfectly innocent comment. We won't know without context. I say this as a black woman with mixed kids what they would look like was definitely part of the conversation . If they wanted to someone could have called my in laws racist but the context of the conversation wasn't racist and they are not racist.

And those rushing to shame the BRF for racism should remember that Harry has shown racism on multiple occasions , has used it bro garner attention for himself and has not properly addressed his previous acts of racism.

We thought she was white until the media revealed she had a black mother. She mixed, but it's been her behavior and actions all along. Who knows if that was made up, or she
took it out of context to make them seem evil. All the while they are running to the media slamming his family to pieces. They are making themselves look worse day by day.

Humor, especially around color, is gone, banned from American society. There is no humor anymore.

The comedian J-L Cauvin just wrote about this. He is (1/4?) part Black.

Yes then we should all be fine with it. If J-L Cauvin is fine with it then Meghan should be too. Just stop. It is racist and there is no other way to interpret it. The person who said this to Harry was not Meghan; and I do believe that he is in a better position than anyone on this board to determine the intent. He knows his family and knows exactly why he was being asked.

Plus the horror and racism of the press. Harry did a terrible job of preparing her, and he should have, knowing how awfully his SIL was treated for quite a long time. But given her dramatic temperament and the cold archaic institution, this was never going to work. Hope they put this behind them and enjoy their freedom.

Seriously they either have nothing in common or who is the real “untrapped” Harry?

He just wrote about humor last week, nothing to do with them.
A few days ago he posted a Blake Griffin is what Archie will look like joke. It was funny. He had terrible reactions. He was like... 'this is what I was JUST writing about."

I'm convinced Kate and William are going to have a 4th child after this interview to push him down to #7

That would be psycho.

And that’s pretty much all of us. The whole problem isn’t about race, but it is it in every fiber of what is going on with most of us all the time. Of course it permeates this.

She's being criticized in the same way Hilaria Baldwin is.

The difference is people aren't allowed to take Meghan to task for her inconsistencies because she's part black.

It is. Every person, no matter who you are, is subject to praise or criticism, neutrality or obsession.
This is a human experience.

YES, racism against blacks and others is prevalent.
YES, it should be examined and stopped.

But all people can be looked at, judged (hopefully, fairly), and debated.

This.
In this thread, we need to quit racism accusations. I get that some british media is so painfully and obviously racist. I understand they interacted with individuals who are ignorant to racist.

No one here criticising her is doing it because of her race.

I strongly disagree. We don’t talk about racism nearly enough. Sorry not sorry if it makes you uncomfortable or is distracting from whatever point you think you’re making.

Meghan looks white, Italian, Hispanic, Latina, and maybe black? Maybe

She's just as much white as black, but yes if I were to guess back in the beginning I would have thought Latina or white. Not that it matters, but leave it to the media to dissect it which they did.

I thought Harry was the cynical one. He tore down the wall and basically said that being a royal was all a fake song and dance. So was his compassion for service and those he met with also fake? This debacle definitely left more questions than it answered.

Just because people don’t believe Meghan, doesn’t make them racist.

It's kind of like this, but substitute race for fashion.

I'm going to ask this again.
You don't think it's possible to criticise any person of color? At all? Ever?

A graphic designer who does their job well? Awesome.
A graphic designer who doesn't taken direction? Not great.
A nurse who is on top of her job? Awesome.
A nurse who doesn't reorder supplies, sits on her phone during busy times. Not great.

If all of them are people of color, what do you do my friend? #2 and #4 are just fine?

To this OP of this mini-section....
Until you answer this, I don't want to see a mention of racism...

Again, do you think it's possible to criticise, at all, anyone who is not white.

Anonymous wrote:Does anyone feel disappointed in Kate?

I know it's silly but I've always been a big fan of hers. She seemed like a nice, normal person who just happened to be so pretty that she caught the eye of a prince. She also didn't seem that into the job, like she married him because she loves him not because she wants to be queen that badly.

This news that she didn't stand up for Meghan, that she didn't issue a correction of what really happened with Meghan at the dress fitting, that she is married to a racist who questions the skin color of his nephew, etc.

It's really disappointing. I feel like I can't be a fan anymore.

If you read the press and commentary from the "other side", they say this:

Kate didn't trust Meghan from the beginning. She thought it was all too fast and Meghan seemed too thirsty. And similar to the treatment that she herself received in her day, she took the position of "wait and see if this person earns my trust". She wasn't going to be fast friends with anyone unless she has observed Meghan over a period of time and judged her to be deserving of her trust.

It is not for nothing that you never read any comments from "friends of Kate" - because she vets her friends very carefully.

Plus, Kate sees her role as supportive of William above all else.

Meghan confused that with discrimination and racism.

And I'll say that Kate's judgment turned out to be not completely off base.

She seems like a very clinical person overall. (Kate)

And by clinical I mean insect like. I’ve never been a fan.

Ha pp. You must not be British! Like the Duchess Kate of Cambridge cares if you have "never been a fan" lol

I was with Megan until she implied Archie didn’t get a title because he was too brown. GTFO. I’m Canadian and maybe Oprah doesn’t understand the line of succession but Megan knows better. Archie was NEVER going to be a prince, until Charles or William became king. Now I go back to my original opinion that Megan is a grifter and attention seeking.

Anonymous wrote:I’m not surprised by the level of vitriol in the comments sections of the UK tabloids articles, but it’s a bit shocking to see the hatemongering against Meghan here on an overwhelmingly American forum. What is it, if not reaction to her being an ‘uppity’ woman of color?

I’d love to know how many of you reviling her are MAGA voters.

Not a MAGA and could literally not care less about her race. It’s interesting and infuriating that we can’t not like someone without being accused of it having something to do with her race. You know you don’t have to like people just because of their race right? I can not like her personality.

I’m as liberal as you can get and hate her because she is better off than 99.999% of people in this world and instead of ignoring the tabloids like the Middleton one does, she spends her fame on whining about her situation. Half a million are dead from Covid in this country, kids haven’t been in school for a year, there is a climate crisis going on, more people than ever are hungry and homeless in this country- and you go on Oprah and talk about how some tabloids made you cry? So you moved to Hollywood for privacy? JFC, what an out of touch fool she is. Who gives a shit about what some crusty old Brit told her about her baby? If you’re going to bring down that toxic family, at least bring up Prince Andrew. She doesn’t care about anyone but herself though.

Yes! Extremely unlikeable.

I agree with this, too. Also liberal.

I have always thought the whole "I didn't know who Harry was" thing was just ridiculously fake. Of course you knew, Meghan. Stop it.

But the RBF is a bunch of lying racists who protects pedophiles and cheaters. I'm happy to see them called out.

Yes on both counts. MM lies easily, and not very well. And the BRF is a relic that needs to go.

Oh brother. The Hilaria weirdos have arrived.

FYI: being "private" doesn't excuse you for not speaking up when you see racism.

Kate looked the other way and did nothing when she had a chance to help. I'll never believe that William didn't tell her Meghan was struggling. That says a lot about her character.
