I guess that is confusing when I re-read what I wrote and could be read as prospective when I said “interested parent” I meant I am interested in the opinion of someone who was previously a teacher at Burgundy. Not trolling...

BFCDS is a really good school, most teachers are very dedicated and I like the progressive aspect of the school. It’s a beautiful campus and back in my BFCDS teaching days I used to teach outside when the weather was good. The curriculum is strong and, as I said, most teachers are amazing and love teaching there. Problem is some people in the administration (not all) are very professional. With that said, Jeff is a bully. Teachers hate him and he has made life difficult for some of them. Most ignore him and continue doing their jobs but I’m amazed he’s still the head of school. He needed to be mentored to “head” the school. I mean, really? They spent all that money on reforming him instead of hiring a better principal. The parents I met were wonderful, loving and community oriented. Never ever had a problem with any of them. But.... Jeff is THE problem. My son flourished while he was thee for five years and he’s now a successful progressive journalist. I believe BFCDS helped shape his love for community, diversity and equality. Too bad the Board has kept Jeff for so long.

We have a pretty robust Zoom schedule and we are in Burgundy 1st grade.

1st grade has a robust zoom schedule? I can say 7th grade is not “robust.” On Thursday, my Burgundy 7th grader had one zoom class. Yes, one hour of class for the entire day. Hardly robust or age appropriate.

??? My 7th grader had two classes on Thursday (her lightest day) and three on Friday, plus assignments for asynchronous work times. I thought it was pretty good.

To clarify the above, we're also Burgundy.

This is surprising to me. I've always had great experiences with Jeff.

Well I guess he’s not being an effective bully. Lol. Since none of the teachers are doing as told and holding in person class. That’s really disappointing to hear, he doesn’t seem like that but I guess I would have no idea how he is as a boss. Interesting.

Yes! The teachers are the bullies now.

What do you mean by “???” You do realize there are 3 cohorts with 3 different schedules, right? My child had one class, science, and no other classes on Thursday. Unacceptable. Asynchronous assignments are homework assignments, not instruction.

Burgundy Middle School parents- does anyone know why, over their next 3 weeks, 6th graders get a total of 3 hours on campus in Alexandria, 8th grader get 4.5 hours on campus, and 7th graders get a grand total of 1.5 hours on campus. What the hell? Who makes these completely inequitable schedules. It should 100% be an equal amount of time on campus for each grade. MAKE IT HAPPEN. We are all paying the same tuition. I have completely HAD it with this school and their ridiculous decision making!

Correction - 8th grade has 3 hours (but double 7th grade hours on campus).

I thought the presumption was the you get the kid, the greater the value of f2f learning.
